They add an element of randomness, inaceptable in competitive.
Most melee unlocks can't really be balanced around stock options due to the stock option being almost completely useless for the class in all honestly. How does one balance around them? All it'll do is make the unlock just as useless...
The only real exceptions are Spy and Engineer ( Due to unique functions of their melee ), and Demo and Sniper who generally are suppose to have weak up close game IMO when utilizing their normal loadouts.
people complain about that which they cannot control.
it is human nature at its core to want control.
i reject the notion of control and say allow chaos to dictate the outcome of life.
besides, be glad they dont use pseudo-random.
if they did everytime i didnt crit would make me more likely to crit.
