-History-

It was on Lathugo that the Lathugan species was born and mastered both science and the occult. Once space travel was achieved, they colonized the habitable 8th planet, a wet, lush planet, and established an interstellar hub on the rocky arid planet between. Though great forces of magic and science, they altered their planets orbital rotations so all three were pertinently synchronized, to aid in trade and governance.

In the milenia following their initial colonization, the Lathugans branched out in space bases, terraformers, and colonization ships for the remaining planets and moons in their system. Making use of the resources offered by the uninhabitable planets, the Lathugaian's began a massive expansion crusade, bringing dozens of star systems in their sector into their sphere of power.

After a second and third expansion phase, uprisings and political instability and civil war brought a revival of the ancient monarchy, and the Territories of Lathugan Dynastic Regents(TLDR) was established. For the last 2500 years, the TLDR has maintained stable political and economic balance for the Lathugan empire. While some internal factions demand a new expansion crusade to expand the empire's boarders to new systems, the TLDR have established a policy of extending envoy fleets and trade colonies rather then full scale invasions with their neighbors.


-Government-

Federal Monarchy. The royal family is extensive, living on nearly every planet in the federated territories. Long lines of succession are documented and political assassinations and imprisonments are not entirely uncommon. Each planet is generally permitted to operate its own government, only answering to the monarchy when they fail to meet import/export quotas or in times of political upheaval.
On each planet who's government is not under direct control of the TLDR, and some that are, the royal family are framed as powerful heros, demigods, or even full fledged gods. Depending upon the sophistication of the society, followers of the royal family will often form sub sects dedicated to specific members of the royal family.
