Wireless mice and SteamOS
I've got a logitech 510 wireless mouse and when I plug the receiver into the box, it doesn't do anything. So does anyone have any idea on what to do? It's the only mouse I have.

I have a Logitech K400r and M525, which both work fine. Maybe try different USB ports? Sometimes mainboards have an extra chip to provide additional USB ports and it doesn't get initialized without some extra driver wizardry. If you switch to a text VT (Ctrl+Alt+F2; Ctrl+Alt+F7 to return to Steam), log in as "desktop", and run

lsusb

do you see the receiver listed? The one on my desktop looks like this:

Bus 002 Device 003: ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 046d:c52b Logitech, Inc. Unifying Receiver
is what comes up when I do that. I've tried two different USB ports already.

I have a Logitech V220 mouse and Microsoft Wireless 600 V.3 - both work just fine in SteamOS. (In fact, they work in every OS and Linux distro I've thrown at them - they even work in Solaris - not exactly a friendly environment for wireless anything.)

Any clue as to why mine might not be working?

apparently receiver was turning on and off. don't know if it is related though, but it might serve as reference

I tried the suggestion in the first link. Not sure what to actually do on the 2nd link.

2nd last post on 2nd one is a script you can run to automate the process of your system trying to load/unload mofules until it works. copy/paste into empty file and run ub terninal with
sudo sh ./name_of_your_file

but, since i don't know if this is your problem i can't say if it will solve your problem. that helped me solve problem that my friend had in ubuntu which is also derived from debian as steamos.

ah, I see. Alright, I will try that tomorrow. Thanks.

Alright I still haven't been able to get my Mouse to work, has anyone else had this problem with SteamOS and been able to fix it?

Chiming in to say I'm having the exact same problem. I'm using a K400 device that's a wireless keyboard and trackpad. It works in BIOS, it works about halfway through the SteamOS install, but at some point something gets loaded that makes it stop responding. Plugging a regular keyboard into the same USB port works fine, so it's not the port.

desktop@steamos:~$ dmesg | grep -i 'mouse' [ 0.589049] mousedev: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice [ 1.558264] input: iMON Panel, Knob and Mouse(15c2:0038) as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-12/1-12:1.0/input/input3

No mention of the Logitech receiver plugged in. The iMON thing is unrelated.

There's a known problem with some Logitech devices, which can be worked around with repeated unplugging/plugging. This will be fixed in an eventual kernel package update

I was told the same thing in an IRC channel by somebody who appears to be a Valve employee. He asked me if it was a K400 before I mentioned it so this is a known, specific problem which has been fixed in Linux already.

we need to pick up a kernel uhci fix that happened somewhere between 3.10 and 3.13. it's known to not work

Hi, I have a logitech wireless K270 keyboard and M85 mouse; they work fine on Steamos but when I start any game they start working randomly and playing becomes impossible.
I tried everything (change battery, plug/unplug receiver) with no result, any help?

Try using a USB 2.0 port (NOT a USB 3.0)
