No Audio ( ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Access denied )

After installing XFCE or MATE as the default Desktop Enviroment all the sudden I lost all my audio. I re-installed the NVIDIA drivers, and the all the gstreamer plugins.

When I run the command "cat /proc/asound/cards" this is the output I get:

Then if I run:

aplay -l

aplay: device_list:252: no soundcards found...


Then I tried running:

alsamixer

ALSA lib pulse.c:243:(pulse_connect) PulseAudio: Unable to connect: Access denied

After that I ran:

start-pulseaudio-x11

N: [pulseaudio] main.c: User-configured server at /var/run/pulse/native, refusing to start/autospawn.
/usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11: 26: /usr/bin/start-pulseaudio-x11: /usr/bin/pactl: not found

Now, when I tried to open the /var/run/pulse/native file with any text editor it just error out. I even installed pavucontrol and it just times out and nothing happens. Can somebody please point me in the right direction?

After spending a few days searching in google for a solution I found the following link with some useful information. It did not fix the whole problem, but it did help me get another step forward towards solving my sound problems.

After doing of the steps I managed to fix the alsa permissions and now I am able to run the alsamixer command, unfortunately for somehow alsa it is not recognizing my sound cards. All I get to manage is a dummy sound card.

I ran the alsa-info.sh script and here is the output I got.
