Samsung series 5 laptop Bricked after trying to install Steam OS

I followed the steps to the letter. And now my laptop refuses to boot into anything.
Has anyone had the same experience as I have? Please help me out.

did you back your data up before hand? and can you see the logo when powering on? if so see the link below also it maybe do to secure boot

Samsung issued a faulty firmware on several models of laptop, which result in bricking under some circumstances. It's easier to expose the bug under Linux, though it exists on Windows too (a 10 line Windows app can brick any affected Samsung laptop).

i dont have anything on the disk when i started to install SteamOS. But now I cannot go into the bios of my laptop. It just continuously loops to the samsung post screen press f2 and press f4

i try to press F10 and it gets me to boot menu and the only thing there is steamOS but I already don't have an HDD plugged in.

i continuously spam F2 after reset and it doesn't get me to bios either!

@directhex so you're telling me there's no fix? It doesn't even allow me to go into recovery mode using the original HDD!

it looks to be a NVRAM corruption for Samsung 530U3C, 300E5C, NP700Z5C, NP700Z7C, and NP900X4C series laptops.

"It appears the problem stems from NVRAM corruption. Removing power, opening the laptop up, and disconnecting the CMOS battery appears like it will clear the problem, but that's a pretty serious set of steps to take for most laptops"

@Doc holiday.... If clearing CMOS is the way.... that is better chance for me than holding a brick in my hands. I'll take it. I'll report if it fixes the problem for me. I just don't have time yet now.

I tried re-seating the bios battery. that didn't work. Now the laptop just loops in the phoenix boot up screen. Is there anyone here who has a fix?

is it looping do to it not finding a OS? do you have a Windows install Disc in it?

I tried both having a windows install disk in it and with a windows install disk in it. It is looping in the boot up screen.

Contact Samsung about it, it's a known issue and they'll probably be able to provide you with a replacement or fix.

I can't. Samsung has region based support. This laptop was purchased in SG. And I'm in a different location. The only thing they will do is offer me a replacement motherboard --- which as we all know would cost as much as a regular laptop.

It's possible that you're affected by a different Samsung UEFI problem - if it were the bricking issue, you wouldn't see anything on the screen.

You said F10 is giving you a list of boot options - can you access a list of alternative boot option entries, e.g. with Tab? On Lenovo, one screen shows the system boot options & hitting tab lists extra options like "firmware setup" or "lenovo diagnostics".

Chances are you have "fast boot" or something enabled, which doesn't bother enabling keyboard drivers early enough for you to access the firmware by hitting a key

you could try to see if you can create a linux live disk on a different computer to see if it'll boot to an os that way
