Libnvidia-encode adds NVENC support(hardware encoding, Shadowplay and Steam IHS use this module for recording). It is currently not included in the latest iso of SteamOS, so I'm not sure when it was added to the repo.

I do hope so, it has been over 2 months since last release. Then Intel GPU users will be able to run SteamOS again.

Edit: It seems Valve is busy updating their ISOs right now.

I thought they rebuilt it really recently?

http://repo.steampowered.com/download/ is your friend, note the last 2 entries are the ones you are wanting.
Sweet! Thanks for the updates!
@jvert
Will there ever be an option to pick and choose which GPU driver we want to use? Someone mentioned in the last update thread that AMD Crimson drops support for older cards. So if there was an easy way to choose the driver, people would be able to keep the old one and others would be able to upgrade faster. I still can't get either of the Metro games working and I'm hoping Crimson might help with that.
Thanks
I'm on an older machine the beta has me booting to black screen. This happened a few months ago and was fixed by booting from a live usb, and using nautilus with elevated privilege to delete two little files that reverted me to stable and I was fine.

So I'm trying to do that now but I can't remember what two files, or where they are. I'm trying to find the old thread but no luck yet. Cany anyone remind we of whhere to find these files?

My 1920x1200 LCD still doesn't like SteamOS, the BPM UI is now stretched to fit (used to be letterboxed, which I was fine with), and Portal 2 seems to think my native res is 1080p and is also stretched.

*Sigh*

Ye, SteamOS doesn't work on 16:10 resolutions out of the box. This can be fixed manually, but it may prevent updates from being applied automatically: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/SteamOS/wiki/Custom-Resolutions-And-Refresh-Rates

In SteamOS 1.0 though, 16:9 was forced and displayed in Letterbox aspect on a 16:10 which was much better (and also like how a console would display). It's just the stretching that is pretty horrible, as it not only spoils the BPM UI, but also prevents a native 1:1 pixel ratio in games too.
Am I crazy or does my xbox controller finally have a deadzone?
