Youtube works but twitch.tv doesn't
Hello! For a long time now I've had this issue. Youtube plays videos just fine, but twitch.tv just shows a black rectangle where the video usually plays. The black rectangle is the size that the video would normally be (not like a tiny rectangle or a huge one or anything).

This isn't only on steamos, it happens on my windows 7 pc as well. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thank you.

Twitch still requires Flash for some reason, which is terrible and should be fixed. SteamOS does not have Flash installed by default. You could probably install it, but it is a better idea to use Chrome.

Oh ok thank you. I didn't know that. I'll look up how to install chrome.

sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-*.deb
sudo apt-get install -f
rm google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

If ever TinMan isn't here to save the day, pretty much you're looking for instructions to install said program to Debian Jessie.

chrome jessie

or...

chrome debian jessie

...should be adequate for searching with Google for instructions.

This, however, looks more universal and therefore easier to remember the important bits than the instructions I've seen before, only requiring you know the URL to type in.

I think I've just learned because of TinMan that -f means to install missing dependencies.

;-)

If you don't like to use the terminal, you call also use gdebi[packages.debian.org] to install all the missing dependencies of .deb files. It has a GUI

No, sensei. I must compare your efficiency to others so I can learn.

Ah, **** it. I'll be lazy and learn at the same time! Thank you for sharing your APT wisdom and the tip about gdebi!

Yeah, gdebi is great for when you download a .deb file. All you have to do is right click on the file and let gdebi do the rest, no typing long commands in the terminal
