Just to explain the rest, now I select the recommended partitioning options, and it looks like the SteamOS is being installed on the same USB drive that the installation files are on. If the data is being limited for some reason, maybe thats why Im having the write failures. I unplugged every Sata cable besides the one for the HDD Im trying to eventually use and the Boot USB stick. So I dont know why the Comreset errors are occuring in the first place. Can someone tell me if this means Im having PSU failure?
2 assumptions Im making 1: The installation USB is not intended to be the installation path like its currently defaulting too. Now because its defaulting to the only available USB drive that leads me to assumption 2; the OS is intended to be installed in flash memory instead of the NTFS environment of the only HDD I have installed.
So to remedy this conflict, I inserted a second USB drive, blank, and this time the installer disk partitioner defaulted to the blank USB rather than the installation USB. BUT this leads to this new issue. "Partition 1,2,3 on dev/sda have been written but we are unable to inform the kernel of the change, probably because they are in use. You should reboot now before making further changes". My only option are cancel or ignore. **I figured this issue out at this point and Im just posting it here to help others because it was weird
So then I click continue, click go back, click abort installation, and reboot the computer. Restart the expert installation process and this time the installer started actually installing the OS on the second (blank) USB. At this point the installation seems complete. But this OS still isnt showing up right. Ill make a 3rd update
