RetroArch on SteamOS with Kodi (libregeek repository)

I am trying to use RetroArch in combination with the Internet Archive ROM Launcher addon in Kodi. The issue is that the addon asks me for the app location and the system folder of RetroArch.

By the way, RetroArch starts up just fine when launching it from within BPM so I assume that this part is working as intended.

But when I look into the settings of RetroArch the Sytem/Bios folder setting under Settings/Directories just says <content dir>, so I do not really know what folder I should enter in the IARL addon settings in Kodi.

Anyone know where the that directory actually is located on the disk?

Content dir I think is where the Roms are. I'll double check. Problem is the compositor, steamcompmgr, is designed to display one program at a time. So, using launchers within the base program are tough. That's the way I understand it. I could be wrong though.

Well once I know where the executable and the Sys/BIOS dir are I can try and confirm whether it works or not

Short update regarding the IARL settings.

The app location for retroarch on SteamOS is /usr/bin/ , in there you select the retroarch executable. The system folder I am still not sure about, I tried /home/steam/.config/retroarch and it worked, but honestly I am not sure this is the right folder since games downloaded from IARL are not visible when I launch retroarch on its own through BPM instead through IARL/Kodi.

Tried some games and they started up. I still have to fiddle around with the controller buttons to have it play nicely but in essence the games do seem to work.

Also getting back from Retoarch into Kodi is not working correct at the moment. Sometimes it throws you back to BPM and crashes Kodi, sometimes it works, but it will throw a communication error message in Kodi.

But there is small progress.

The only other one I used before a lot was Rom Collection Browser, but not on SteamOS.

Update:

If you see <content dir> somewhere in the directory config of Retroarch you need to define this manually, otherwise emulation will not work. So you select the appropriate folders in the home of the user steam or desktop, depending on where you find the folder in question.
