SteamOS does not boot after fresh install
I just installed SteamOS on my Syber Steam machine which originally came with SteamOS (I replaced it with Ubuntu for awhile after an update caused a boot loop). However, it gets stuck on the BIOS logo and never actually boots the OS. My graphics card is an Nvidia GTX 1080 and this is a UEFI installation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need to hold down right-hand shift to get into grub. Then turn on boot messages by pressing e at the SteamOS boot entry and removing splash quit vt-handof from kernel line.
Thank you for the response. I was able to get into the grub menu by holding down right-shift. However, the options you mentioned do not seem to appear in the boot entry. Here is a pastebin showing the full text of my grub entry: https://pastebin.com/ywtujzFd

There may be some typos as I was not able to copy/paste and had to type it all in to pastebin manually.

My bad, haven't gotten in there in a while. Yeah, remove quite and the fbcon=.. bits. You can boot into command line mode to troubleshoot if you want by adding systemd.unit=multi-user.target or resue.target. (used to be you just added a 1 or 3)

Cheez... wat?

I tried removing quiet and fbcon and also tried each of the systemd.unit flags you mentioned. However, no matter what I do it just goes black when I hit F10 to boot. If I leave it there long enough it reboots the machine. I have also tried reinstalling SteamOS.

Just a shot in the dark but does your UEFI Bios have secure boot or video mode options you could play around with? You could also try removing the load_video and fgxmode lines.

I had the same problem a long time ago with a new UEFI system and any Linux distro I tried to boot. Eventually it just fixed itself with a newer kernel versions. But the suspect was some quirk with the UEFI implementation.
uefy bios is sh1t... like most wiwizzzz that all use the same code...
they should have made a boot os system with a command com or grub ...so gaming from it or creating "secure asm softwares" would have been possible...
loading a wiwi10 or ubuntu for being able to use an edit.com is surely the most insecure way of typing ...lol
try Mint in live mode...then install it [ may be on a blank ssd...]
