Nice. Now let's see if I can fix what's wrong with unattended updates

Not sure if you changed anything jvert, but unattended updates worked this time. Or well, I had to switch to desktop mode before the update was detected by the update manager there. Returned to Steam, rebooted, and it installed. Nice!

I don't know what the deal is with AMD RX 500 series GPU with SteamOS is but my RX 560 works on Arch Linux which is on Mesa 17.1.5 driver. As I understand it the current stable version of SteamOS is on Mesa 17.1.2. Not sure about SteamOS Beta or if a later version of Linux kernel will help.

I swapped the card out for an RX 480 and the machine boots up normally into BPM on SteamOS. I don't know but I thought RX 400 and RX 500 were basically the same GPU with the main difference being the BIOS.
Hardware vaapi in-home streaming doesn't seem to be working on Apollo Lake at the moment.
no Update since August, is SteamOS dead?

It still works, but the frequency of updates is not very high :/

Yes, it still works. Why do you need higher frequency updates?
How many updates are spread on PS4 or XBox?

They might be busy with the Stretch update. I believe they did indicate they planned on keeping up with Debian releases.

Maybe for Mesa and Nvdidia drivers... As an exemple, F1-2017 is supported on 384.90 nvidia driver. Could be nice to be on par with that. Still, maybe 381.22 is ok, but it's an information that us, users, we do not have in an official way. Still it's weird, for a gaming platform, to be under the requirements of some games, in this aspect.
