+1 for Lossless support, with FLAC being the highest priority (I dropped lossy formats like MP3 years ago so I don't have any music stored in lossy formats). Also, would be great with support for higher bit rates and sample rates (like 24-bit/96khz etc..), but let's just focus on 16-bit/44khz lossless formats right now.

I agree, that high definition audio/lossless audio is important. This is where Steam can differenciate itself from competitors by offering enthusiasts what they want and gaining market share though early adoption and being a shining light for technical brilliance (as they are in other areas). Innovation makes Valve awesome :)

Eh, let's not forget that this thing is only in it's beta stage. They'll probably work on supporting lossless once they know that the things works as it should to begin with. But I mean of course I'm totally down for lossless, as I buy in WAV format now.

I have my whole library in ALAC because its just easier since majority of my devices are mac, if it doesnt support this and last.fm, then ill just stick to itunes.

+1 for lossless support. I have my entire collection ripped to FLAC. I do keep a second copy of everything transcoded to Vorbis, just so I can squeeze everything onto my phone. I seriously would not want to have to transcode everything a second time to MP3 format. I normally have no use for MP3s, and would prefer a format free from patents.

My 2385 FLAC files only take up 34 GB, which is very nominal when hard drives are going for $60 per terabyte. That ammounts to about $2 of storage. FLAC has lossless compression, remember.

yep, some people doesnt hear differences between flacs and mp3s, maybe using walmart's hearphones. You need to have some decent rig and a little music sensitiveness... it's true for some kind of music differences between mp3-320 and flac are minimal, but for the others mp3 files looks like ♥♥♥♥.
