OLD GROUP

Just before I start yes smarter sandbox isn't a thing you cant rename groups. I do still have a sandbox server its just called nasulex. Here is a link to the new group: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/nasulex

I am making a network under the name Nasulex Networks or nasulex for short(usually what I go by).
The only problem I really have is getting people. Its not like before where ♥♥♥♥ tons would just join off of the server list. Some history: Back before 2018 I would always have about 20 players on. I started in 2015 on a dinky laptop and it ran 25 people on a single 1 ghz core with 2gb of ram. During 2018 everything crapped out and I decided to shut it down out of stress but then I got bored and opened it again a couple months ago. I ended up coming up with the idea of trying to make a network on March 14 2020( when I made the nasulex steam group). The server is still quiet to this day but it does spark a bit sometimes. The thing is that back then I was ignorant af and didn't see an opportunity to grow. Looking back all of that ♥♥♥♥ where I got people to join a teamspeak server that literally didnt grow the community in any way. I was also pretty silent and didnt really interact very much. If I was “smart”(idk if you get the reference) I would have created a discord and did like invite rewards. As well as one for the steam group like I setup now as that would have connected the community together. But its already kinda too late as their is no one joining off of the server list. Honestly ive been putting the blame on other people but in the end its the owner that has full control thats why it can be pretty stressful or extremely fun as you get to meet lots of nice people. Ive also met some really close friends just from having a server open and other people also met each other. Its sad 2bh that everyone left but it makes sense why it died to me. Gmod is really fun 2bh when there is people on I laugh my ass off sometimes.

Ok so now that we got the history out of the way I can get into the plans( History is extremely useful as you can use it to your advantage and remember the mistakes you already made).
My plan is to setup multiple game servers across different games right now I have a gmod sandbox and a rust server setup. I will need some recommendations. I could probably manage around 4-6 myself. I have a server with a ryzen 7 3800x so the cpu will be fine for that. Once I do this I will need to grow a playerbase somehow. Then if this all plays out the plan would be to then setup donations and turn that into income so I can try and expand even farther then maybe even register a business.

Im either going to host it on dedi's in the cloud or get a business line here and like a rack of ♥♥♥♥( that ♥♥♥♥♥ hella expensive just look at gfls payment log they have and you will understand. Iv'e never actually used a game server host I always either rented a vps or ran it on box at my house. I believe using a game server host takes the fun away. ). This would effectively be like having a private server host. I would also need help (developers, admins, etc). Help would be greatly appreciated as school and all of this other bs that I have other than this sucks up a lot of time. It would be a good learning experience for everyone. Everything I know stems from hosting gmod servers and games. Yeah “video games are bad for you” totally am I right. I would like some people to experience the same effects from this too.

Out of hosting these servers I have gotten about 6 years of linux experience so far and other ♥♥♥♥ too.
Also I will have to give a little credit to Christian at GFLclan( the founder) they gave me some other ideas too like I also want to setup my own anycast network for ddos protection etc like they have and some of the power structure iv'e seen in there network is a really good idea. I really can not see a better way of laying it out. Funny story about how I met them: So basically I saw one player from my server on it and me being the geeky nerd I am looked at the ip and saw they had their own block so I was like hey this is a little interesting. Then I ended up building up the courage to ask in their steam comment section.( I rarely posted stuff back then ). To my surprise they actually responded as I expected them to be busy as I noticed how large this network was and how much stuff they are probably doing. The even bigger surprise is they told me to add them on discord. I was like holy sh*t. They are a really nice guy btw fun to be around. Probably one of the very small amount of good server owners in the community. Most ive seen are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and like doxx and ddos etc. Pretty bad 2bh.

I honestly think I like this writing thing. They also told me to try it. In the future I will definitely setup a forums to post stuff on like they have. No point right now as their is no player base to look at it I will probably use discourse 2bh.
