TF2 source code is leaked

Source code for TF2 and CS:GO has apparently been leaked, making the games unsafe to play as there is a large uncertainty of what exploits people find. I advise everyone to stay away from the game for the time being, as there could be exploits allowing bad things to happen to your computer. There are already reports of RCE or remote code execution exploits in TF2, meaning someone could infect your computer with viruses by simply being on the same server.

SKUFS follows the same path as Creators.TF for the time being and has shut down the servers for the foreseeable future, as we can't guarantee that either our servers or people playing on them are safe.

A Red Letter Update

A new update that affects all SKUFS servers is being deployed right now. Here are the changes.

Updates to SKUFS Chat

Introducing custom leave messages, chat presets, opt-in staff tags for staff members and more. If you are at a high enough level to have join messages, you will now also get access to custom leave messages.

"Chat presets" means VIP players can now easily save their color and tag settings in "presets" and quickly switch in between them. More details on this can be found in /sc.

Better introduction for new players

Each server now has a customized welcome message the first time you spawn after joining a server. We now also have a new entirely custom /help menu.

Head Admins

As of today, Head Admins for Bigcity, Mariokart, Surf and Pokémon has been added. Their responsibilities involve recruiting and managing the staff members for their respective servers. They have full authority to add and remove Moderators entirely on their own for the server they manage.

The new Head Admins are the following:

TriggerWinkle (Bigcity)
Tairuu (Pokémon)
Ryu Risto (Surf)
Kapparoach (Mariokart)

SKUFS Credits is now XP

In preparation of the new currency for SKUFS, what we previously called "Credits" is now XP. I've also gone out of my way to finally add /pets, /voicefx and /footprints to all SKUFS servers as unlockables for level 1 and 8.

Save player quotes

A lot of players like to save quotes on each other as memories and memes. That's why we now have the /quotes and /quote <player> commands that let you easily save quotes of something someone has said in chat, and replay it whenever you want. This is an entirely in-house SKUFS plugin made by our community member TriggerWinkle

Improved Speedometer for your Surfing needs

We now have a wastly improved Speedometer closely integrated with the in-house SKUFS Stats[players.skufs.net] system. Speed records on Surf will now forever be saved in our stats (and you can no longer easily cheat the speed records ;). Credits for this goes to Ryu Risto, another SKUFS community member who made this new in-house SKUFS plugin.

What's next?

The new SKUFS currency system has grown into more than just a currency. An entirely new rank system where ranks are bought using money earned on the server is being put in place for the next update.

I know the obvious question then is going to be "will you spend real money for the currency?", and the answer is no. The only reason you should ever spend money on a gaming community is as a donation to actually support the community.
