An RPG Group for people who live in Ottawa

I would like to create a group for young adults to meet up, either in person or online, and play tabletop RPG's together.

In case you don't know what a tabletop RPG is, or how it differs from video game RPG's, here is some info.

A tabletop rpg, or pen and paper rpg, is a game in which the players each take on the role of a character that they have created, and using a game master, or GM, work together to play out a story. The game aspect of a tabletop rpg is that each character has certain statistics and limitations, rules that they must follow, and the rolling of dice, combined with the statistics, creates a lot of chance and risk in the game.

It's not all numbers and dice, though. Rpgs are great fun that anyone can learn to play! There is nothing better than the feeling of teaming up with your friends for an incredible fantasy adventure, and working together to save the day!

In my group, I believe that the main focus of the game should be fun, first and foremost. I have a lot of house rules, which means that the rules are able to be messed around with a little bit in order to ensure that there is maximum enjoyment all around.

This group will welcome any player, brand new or experienced. However, if you are disrespectful to any of the players, or insist on making the game less fun for everyone, then I, the GM, will kick you out of the group.

I don't enjoy D&D itself, because I feel that that particular rpg is a bit restrictive. You're stuck in a generic fantasy setting, and the game mechanics are hard to follow, especially for beginners.

The group will instead vote on a number of available rpgs that the GM has, and determine from there whether it will become a weekly thing, or a one time only thing. Many decisions will be decided by popular vote, in fact, so that the game remains fair. If no one can decide on one particular game, we will try a new one each week until we all find one that we like.

Since the GM lives in Kanata, the group will either meet up in Kobold's Corner, a comic book shop that will probably let us use the back room, or just meet up online at roll20.org.
