There's a little bug though, if you set up postprocessing to be the first step just above 0 ; nothing is displayed then during the race (got a full-red rendered image).
Two little things i noticed though. For some reason the game spawns two windows on the taskbar when i alt tab http://imgur.com/7xXrTv9 which is really strange. Both of them seem to be the same instance of the game so i dunno. Not a huge issue just a strange occurence.
And also i noticed that the sound of your own car now seems to start centered and then frequently flip between the left and right stereo channels for a moment as you drive for some reason, it should be centralised always seeing as your car in always in front of you. I dont know if that was there before but i didnt notice it. Its a little bit distracting.
Great work though rob, game has never looked better!
The audio has always worked that way, as from time to time the car does move left / right with regard to the camera. I've certainly not noticed anything suspicious and unusual here with that. I'm guessing you might want to go into Windows and tinker with your speaker / headphone settings. This can enlarge / reduce the stereo separation and make the effect more or less noticable for you. You could also be confusing the sound of other cars with your own, but this is just a guess.
Anyway, glad you like changes, makes all the work worthwhile ...
Yes, after I ported the sound engine to use XAudio2, the car engine sounded pretty poor and nothing I did with the code to try and make it sound better worked very effectively. It was just a lot easier to use another sound sample altogether, and I just happened to have some lying around in Stage II :-)
That's a minor issue though, but sometimes it's disturbing. The same as when you want to see what time is it on your clock but there is fog on your clock, and as you drive you can't focus well to actually see what time is it :p
Did you try to Alt+Tab when you have the black screen, to see if it's not just a problem of focus ?
