Ride The Ark

We've long held off adding mods to the server for a number of reasons. Many of them just make the game easier. Often they're buggy. Sometimes they don't update when the game updates. Removing them can force a wipe. Not all mods are compatible with all other mods.

That said there is a large demand for some specific classes of mods, and with good reason. People often request a stacking mod, no clip, and metal glass for example.

Things like the stacking mechanic in the game can frequently be annoying while adding little. Though the game makes frequent use of said mechanic to implement secondary effects such as spoilage. Prime meat stops being at all difficult to preserve if you can stack it 100 high, but limiting arrows to just 50 per stack seems to perhaps just make inventory management more annoying (there is an argument about selecting the correct count more quickly though if you use them in smaller quantities).

No clip can remove those annoying situations where you can't place a wall because of the terrain leaving an unsightly gap in your base. While this does slightly increase the defense of bases without preplanning for the terrain I think that is generally a good thing at the present level of PvP play and don't see any real downsides. Perhaps I've just not realized them.

Metal glass adds a bunch of metal strength class semi-transparent building parts which could nicely improve base architecture.

I'll be throwing up an alternative server with some mods enabled called "RideTheArk ModTest" where people can try them out and see what they think. I'd also take suggestions on other mods to try out. Additionally I'm not promising we'll add any of the tested mods. After a period of testing though we'll see what the community thinks.
