how to use a Kagura patch with Ubuntu...
open Downloads folder, go up a level to Home
in Home directory make a new folder, call it Patchingplace
in steam client right click on the Kagura game you want to patch and select Properties...
in the Properties... window click Local Files, then click the Browse button
in the directory that opens go up a level, right click the folder for the game and select copy
go to the Patchingplace folder, paste the game folder in it
wait
wait more
[linux deprioritized moving files in favor of other metrics like power and minimizing disc writes, also there is no progress popup]
wait more
a popup will eventually tell you the copy was successful
open the folder
paste the patch exe into the folder
open the patch with Q4Wine, hopefully by double clicking, but you may need to right click and Open with other Application...
wait
ignore the patching window that opens
focus on the Q4Wine window that opens
doubleclick winecfg in the Q4Wine window
in the Wine configuration window that opens click the Drives tab
click the Add... button
in the Select Drive Letter popup choose an unused letter, in my case G:
click OK
click the G: (or the letter you picked) drive in the Wine configuration popup
down in Path click the Browse... button
in the popup navigate Home, [Your username], Patchingplace
click ok
in the Wine configuration window click Apply
in the Wine configuration window click OK
in the [Game] Restoration patch window click the Next > button
Agree to give your soul and those of your descendants to Kagura
in the [Game] Restoration patch window click the Next > button
in the [Game] Restoration patch window click the Change... button
in the popup navigate My computer, G: [or your letter], [game name]
click OK
in the [Game] Restoration patch window click the Next > button
in the [Game] Restoration patch window click the Next > button
wait
wait
wait [at least there is a progress bar]
in the [Game] Restoration patch window click the Finish button
close the Q4Wine window that likes lingering around
go to the Patchingplace directory
copy the game folder
[don't erase this copy until you are done with the game, steam occasionally does file integrity checks and you may need to re-copy]
in steam client right click on the Kagura game you want to patch and select Properties...
in the Properties... window click Local Files, then click the Browse button
in the directory that opens go up a level
paste over the original folder for the game
in the Merge Folder popup click the "Apply this action to all files and folders" checkbox
in the Merge Folder popup click the green Merge button
in the File conflict popup click the "Apply this action to all files and folders" checkbox
in the File conflict popup click the green Replace button
in the File conflict popup click the "Apply this action to all files and folders" checkbox
in the File conflict popup click the green Replace button
wait
wait
wait
wait
wait [there is a tiny progress pie chart at the top of the directory screen
wait
wait
wait
All file operations completed popup will eventually pop up for a short time
close any stray directories and windows
start the game normally in the steam client
[the steam client has where you can pick a specific proton version if the default isn't working, in case you need it]
hope this helps
