Here are some of the commonly asked questions about Steam Idle Master.

Idle Master says "Idling Complete", what do I do?

• Card drops aren't unlimited - this message means that you've reached the end of your available card drops and Idle Master has no work to perform. The only way to get more card drops is to purchase more games that support Steam Trading Cards, spend $9 in a F2P game (see below), or wait until the developer of one of your existing games adds support for Trading Cards.

Can Idle Master be used to get card drops for F2P games on Steam?

• Free to play (F2P) games on Steam are only eligible for trading card drops when you make purchases in-game. Cards drop at a rate of 1 card for every $9 spent in-game or on DLC purchases. If you are eligible for card drops made from purchases, Idle Master will idle these games like any other (and prioritize them accordingly). Can Idle Master be used to get card drops from games shared with my account via Family Sharing?

• No. Games shared on Steam this way are not eligible for card drops.

Can using Idle Master result in a VAC ban?

• I don't recommend running Idle Master while you're also playing another game that's connected to a VAC-enabled server. Doing so is the only possible way that Idle Master could potentially trigger a VAC ban, and it also reduces the drop rate of trading cards pretty significantly. To be 100% safe, please close Idle Master before connecting to a VAC-enabled server. The program itself will never communicate with any of these servers, thus it is safe to use Idle Master to idle cards from VAC protected games.

Can Idle Master be used to pad my playtime of a particular game?

• The steam-idle.exe application that's included with Idle Master can be given a command line argument of the appid of the game you'd like to idle. For example, if you'd like to idle Team Fortress 2 for playtime, you can simply run "steam-idle.exe 440" from a command prompt. There is no user interface for this, it must be done through the command line or by creating a shortcut to steam-idle.exe with the appid added to the target line of the shortcut properties.

I have an error installing Idle Master, what can I do?

• If you get an error running the installation program, simply download the "Portable Version"[www.steamidlemaster.com]. Unzip the file to a folder on your hard drive and run IdleMaster.exe to begin.

I'm having issues signing in to Idle Master, what can I do?

• Sometimes Idle Master gets stuck after saving your info and says "Idle Master is saving your information". If this screen appears for more than 30 seconds it's perfectly safe to close the application and restart it. Usually signing in again fixes this issue. This is typically caused by Steam's servers not responding to the web request correctly. Also, you can delete the user data and restart idle-master, go to "C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\IdleMaster\" (Start -> Run -> type "appdata" -> Enter), delete all folder entries here.

Idle Master says that Steam isn't running, but it is! What do I do?

• Idle Master and Steam need to be running as the same user. If you start Steam as an administrator, you'll also need to start Idle Master as an administrator. This is easier to do with the portable version of Idle Master.

I don't want to put my Steam information into this program, what can I do?

• Rather than entering your username and password, you can open the program, click "Settings", then click on the lock icon in the lower left. From there you can enter your cookie data manually by following these directions[github.com].

Is there a version of Idle Master that works with Linux? OSX? Windows 95/98/XP?

• There is a version of Idle Master that was built using Python that works on both Linux and OSX and older versions of Windows. It can be found here[github.com]. Please note that you'll need Steam installed, running, and signed in using that platform.

Is there a version of Idle Master that works with my mobile phone?

• There is currently no version of Idle Master that works with iOS/Android/Windows Phone because there is currently no version of Steam that can launch games on any of these platforms.
