История в игре разделена на две части, первая происходит в 1980-х годах прошлого века, вторая в 2025 г. Играть мы будем за Алекса и Дэвида Мейсонов, отца и сына соответственно. А рассказчиком, объединяющим две эти истории, выступит постаревший сержант Фрэнк Вудс из Black Ops.
