Same here. Stellaris is fascinating to me cause its very core seems unfinished to me, yet they add more and more content, and somewhere in there is a game that is the best 4X ever for many people. With every update I hope they will make it into something I enjoy more than doing my taxes, because on paper it should be my most favourite game. Years pass, but I keep that hope alive.
You know, it's obvious and I know that. But thanks, I needed that. I'll listen to you and do something with hundreds of good games I can enjoy instead of diving into yet another 4 hour boredom run of Stellaris.
I had the same issue with Sins of the Solar Empire. It just did not gel with me even when I looked at the game and felt it should.Coming back each time with new DLC's and had the same issue.
Re Stellaris - certainly possible to want more from the game while also enjoying what is there. If the game had more Victoria 3 mechanics like supply chains, Rise and Fall mod rebellions and decay, and Distant Worlds point to point warp it would basically tick all of my boxes. As is, it is my most played space 4x, even as I see a few obvious ways they could make it so much better.
I'm sure they'll reveal that in a future peak.
A video from Montu Plays hinted that there are, if memory serves.
There really is no reason for pops to work the way they do now.
