This community has created fan made patches that fixed a multitude of bugs and errors in the base game.
All the while not taking liberties in changing anything that wasn't originally intended by creators.
Now a mod has given new life to Master of Magic by changing, editing and even adding new and fun additions to the game
Check the link below to see all the massive changes they have made.
Having tried a single game with the mod I can say it really feels like a new experience.
And far more enjoyable than Worlds Of Magic.
Oh snap!
So if youre a MoM fan (or new to the series) and need a breath of fresh air with a nostalgic feel give this mod a try.
Especially the diplomacy changes. Alliances baby.

This is a Must-Have mod for MoM. Really. It's right there on par with such important mods as In The Wake of Gods mod for Heroes of Might and Magic III.
It requires you to upgrade the game to 1.50, which is an even further improvement over 1.40n Insecticide already excellent upgrade. These are two very important community developed patches for MoM that fix and balance many issues of the original game, and worth an installation (details below) even if you didn't care for this mod.
Installation is really easy. But it is poorly presented by the author, so to avoid some confusion over the installation process, here are some comments.
If it's been a while and you have to relearn how to play MoM (or haven't played it in the past), don't install anything just yet. Play the normal game to familiarize with it again. The game manual is very comprehensive and is all that you need to learn the game again. But the manual becomes seriously outdated once you apply this mod. Some spells no longer exist, units have different statistics, etc.
Once you get back on track with MoM, then install the mod.
You want two download the Caster.Zip and Master150RC7.zip files. The first is the actual mod, the second is the 1.50 update.
To check all is well, start a new game choose some random character and get the game going. In the world view, click the Game button on the upper left and check the bottom of the screen, You should see this:

M030AI.TXT
WO37FIX.TXT
W128FIX.TXT
W324FIX.TXT
The remaining patches are feature patches (mostly game balancing patches) that you can open in a text file and decide for yourself if you want them from the text description.
To install the patches, copy the files you want from the Optional folder to your MoM main folder. Then in the command prompt move to your MoM folder and execute the following command:
The mod installs just like the patch. Extract the Caster.Zip file somewhere and copy just the main folder contents (not the subfolders) over your MoM folder. You are done!
For a comprehensive list of changes (along with some explanations of their rationale and effects in the game), you can read the "CasterOfMagic.html" or CasterOfMagic.odt files in the main folder.
The Gensokyo subfolder is where those anime characters are, if you wish to install them.
The Tools subfolder should be of no importance to you at this point. If you know what they are, you won't be reading this post of mine anyways :) You can explore them later and get all the details from the forums link given by Army Pea on his post above. I'll gladly help with your questions too. But I'm just a lurker there. You need to ask me here.
Thanks for adding this comprehensive install instructions.
Ever consider writing tutorials for videogames?
I'm damn sure you could be better at it than the current (and sad) industry standard
Once upon a time I considered writing game tutorials. I did so in fact, before the advent of YouTube gaming videos. But was younger and with more time in my hands. Today I have trouble commiting.
but as I was going through the forums, figuring out more about the patches (optional), I got to the statement : " Seravy stopped working on this mod, as he got negative feedback from random people on one forum" --> I am sad. Not only that Seravy stopped working on that, but why the hell is this world so underdeveloped, that it allows someone think he may post anything, not even considering the impact of their words. Not only that people who start working on such great mods should get their patreon, support, kickstarter and financial support, not only that we should build holy shrines and pray to these great leaders of our dreams, instead, we allow shytposting in such extended, that it makes people STOP to do what they like to do (not to mention they do it for us)
Anyway, the mod is great, excellent and superb.
Latest unofficial version I got my hands on : MoM151RC5.zip / Caster503.zip
Playing it like crazy.
Seravy: you have my respect and I want to thank you! (and the idea to bring anime into old-school gaming : WOW! I love you!)
Yeah, as a publisher, they've done really well lately. Hopefully, they can do this game justice.
It does seem as though they are having a go at breaking out of the cottage industry war game business they have specialised in. Which is important 'cos following the demise of Paradox I would say they are one of the main contenders to pick up the mantle going forward.
Fields of Glory: Empires is promising, but not there yet IMO (from what I've seen only of course). The strategy gameplay seems pretty solid to me, but the export/import to the FoG battle engine thing is not up to snuff yet, and the battles I understand take 30-60 minutes to play out - which is far too long IMO. The graphics are nowhere near good enough yet either. A Total War game battle takes 5-10 minutes usually. Better graphics and a proper in-game tactical battle engine and this game could easily take on the Total War franchise, in fact wipe the floor with it, but not until it has IMHO.
The other big litmus test is of course DW2. They have a huge opportunity with that but one is scared to death they will screw it up, that it won't be quite up to snuff for the modern market (rather like FoG: Empires.)
Will they accept that they can't grow in 2019 by selling games made by two or three people that look like they were made in 1995? And even if they do, have they the got the resources to step up to the plate?
Mods, such as "Caster of Magic", are solving many problems of original.
What I mean, lets try to not idealise original MoM... it has tons of problems.
Yeah, I've read about MOM's awful AI before (which is why I specifically mentioned it earlier). Here's hoping Slitherine can do a better job with it this time around.
