Welcome to the Depth Beta!

Thanks for helping us test our new game, Depth! We've been working on the project for some years, and now need to expand our testing. This will help us test more hardware combinations, as well as see how new players react to the systems we've built. We really appreciate you taking the time to play the game, and we welcome all feedback (good and bad), so we can make the game better!

To install the Depth Beta, you'll need to redeem your key on Steam. To do this, in Steam go to 'Games' -> 'Activate a Product on Steam'. When prompted, enter your Depth Beta key, which looks like:

Steam should now commence downloading the latest Beta build of Depth.

We'd love to hear how you find things, so post your experience here in the group discussions and we'll be able to improve Depth together.

Depth Beta Update: Communications

Communications between players have gotten a big bump over the last fortnight, and the new map Cove has received significant work to visuals and balance.

Steam Voice

Team-based Steam VOIP support has been finished, with Push-to-talk functionality the default mode.

Quick Chat

Depth now has a quick-chat system. Holding down the V key (by default) will give you an array of team-sensitive chat options in a wheel. A single click sends the message. There's also a global quick-chat wheel available with the B key.

This includes the major changes since the last update (minor bugfixes and changes are not included)

Mechanics

Fix for Magnet DPV sucking up thrown treasure bags immediately.
Improved Peripherals and Hydroacoustics evolutions have been combined.
Seasoned Man Hunter evolution is now called Electroreception, and also shows divers using the DPV.
Fixed treasure bags sometimes getting stuck in Steve and not cashed in.
Ignore Pain evolution renamed to Adrenal Glands.

Balance

Divers can now hold a maximum of 20 pieces of treasure.
Coagulation health regeneration from 3 to 4.
Hammerhead cost from 4 to 3.
Powerful Tail cost from 2 to 3.
Blindside cost from 5 to 4.
Double Time cost from 3 to 2.
Consumables no longer drop on death.

Remade game loading splash screen.
Initial version of Basic Concepts added to the Learn menu.
Quick Chat system added in-game.

Maps

Cove: Added route lighting and foliage to key areas. Lighting re-done.
Cove: Lots of breakable work, balancing of ammo placement and treasure.
Antiguo: Lots of collision and lighting work.
Spline cameras added to maps for display before game start.

Content

Fixed some animation issues with quick weapon switching and reloading.
Integrated new skin for the Net Gun.
Weapon impact effects improved.
Improvements to STEVE's post processing.

Steam

Steam VOIP support added.
Full Steam screenshots support added.

Other

Pre-requisits don't try to re-install after successfully running.
This news feed system improved.
