Our Downtown Roleplay server is now online!

Everything has been wiped except for your playtime, server joins and rank. Bans have remained too.

There are a number of changes, updates, removals, etc. Please see the update thread for more info: http://chronet.com/threads/update-160-downtown-roleplay.17186/

All content should be auto downloaded on server join, else the following workshop collect has all the necessary addons:

Let the fun begin!

Chronet will once again be hosting our Roleplay server on Downtown!
Whilst we are going back to our custom Downtown map, the server will remain the same regarding it's "seriousness".
Instead of going back to "Lite Roleplay" (since this implies we won't enforce rules, etc), we'll return to rp_downtown_chronet using the same gamemode base we used on Rockford. With the exception of vehicles, the gamemode will remain mostly the same.

It's been over 3 years since we launched Semi-Serious, which involved switching maps to Rockford, adding vehicles, going standalone, adding crafting, etc; it's now time to return to our roots.

While we work on Chronet v2, Downtown Roleplay will not only keep you entertained with many new experiences (and reliving old nostalgic moments), it'll also provide us with a testing ground to try out new gamemode mechanics and features which may be implemented into v2.

The server will be launched within the next day or so. We're just getting a few things done before we're ready for public release. This includes a new version of our old Downtown map (Thanks @Kai).

All data, except for playtime and rank, will be wiped. The Rockford RP server will remain open for a few more days, after which we'll be shutting it down until v2 is ready (We'll be moving the Rockford server to a new port - 192.223.26.102:27016). The new Downtown Roleplay server will take over the old server IP address and port.

We hope this brings back some much needed excitement, I'm sure lots of fun will be had on our new server :)

We are ready to initiate stage 1 of Chronet v2: Staff and management reform.

Our staff team and our general staff organisation as been all over the place the last couple of years. There was little to no leadership and this led to many different problems. This lack of leadership and structure is the first thing we must address to get Chronet back on it's feet.
We need a team of staff that can lead the community without me having to be there every step of the way. The staff, and especially upper management, need permissions and authority to act when I'm not around.

This is where "Community Managers" come in. In the past, they were merely server admins with a bit more power here and there. Although having some extra permissions is great, it's not entirely the point of the role. The point of course being is that those in this role should be managing the community. This means looking after staff (promoting and demoting where necessary), moderating and organising the forums, figuring out what's next (Ie. Planning), and most importantly it's about being diligent and paying attention to what's happening within the community, and making choices as a team to further progress the community, in a positive direction. For starters, there will be a few 'Community Managers' but over time we'll get more into what each persons specific role and task is.

Whilst we're not going to be one of those communities out there that have '100s' of different ranks, roles and titles, we are going to be a bit more organised and therefore we'll have a few new ranks come in. We'll be having simple hierarchy - Trial Admin - Junior Admin - Full Admin - Senior Admin - Junior Community Manager - Community Manager - Senior Community Manager, Community Director.

As for staff, the slate is being wiped clean. All current staff members will be removed and we'll be recreating our staff team over time.
We'll be paying specific attention to each staff member (past and present), and make sure they integrate with the team well and are committed to being active on the server and forums. We'll also be making sure that there is no bias when it comes to admin player relationships.

Woah, another whole year has gone by. We're still here.

Congrats to everyone for making it this far. Not many other gaming communities (especially GMod ones) get to celebrate their 4th anniversary (I mean, we've actually been going since 2009/2010, but who's counting)

Thanks to all members (old and new), as well as our amazing staff for all your support over the years.

I would like to take this opportunity to also tell you about some future plans.

Firstly, you can expect me to be much more active next year. I'm moving to a new house early 2017, and I am going to dedicate part time work to Chronet. This means I'll be working on the server a lot more than I am now. This means I can push out lots more updates, and hopefully open another server or 2. I'm excited for what the future holds.

Here's a few other things to expect in the future:

- Halloween event will hopefully be pushed tomorrow. It's quite different from anything we've done before, so I hope it's worth the wait.
- Possibly a wipe (will discuss further)
- EU RP server will open this year. Various things are still in discussion though.
- Police overhaul coming soon.
- New vehicles coming soon.
- New trial admins are under discussion by staff. Will happen ASAP.

Also, a server update with the highly requested trade overhaul is about to go live. Enjoy!
