PS3 MotionJoy Alternative (No longer need to activate a driver every log in)

Using MotionJoy and booting straight to BPM can be a huge pain considering you have to enable the driver every time you log on. Well after searching for a solution for sometime I have found one that works for me.

New Install
1. Connect your Dongle and DS3 via USB and let Windows install it's default drivers.
2. Unpack the archive.
3. Create a directory where you want the Service to run from. [Recommended - C:\Program Files\Scarlet.Crush Productions *]
4. Copy the contents of the ScpServer\bin to the directory you created.
5. Run ScpDriver.exe.
6. XP/Vista - check the Force Install option. Win 7/8 leave it unchecked.
7. Click Install.
8. Click Exit.

This should do the trick. Restart your computer and steam should now detect your PS3 controller as an Xinput compatible controller without having to load a driver every time you log in.

You should no longer have to load a driver every time you log in in order to get your PS3 controller to work with your games!

This will make it easier to turn your PC into a dedicated SteamBox so theoretically you never have to see your desktop if you want to boot directly into BPM.

*Note* I don't have blue tooth so I couldn't test the pairing, but there are instructions to pair the PS3 controller in the Link as well.

just found this now and tried doing it, but for some reason ScpDriver.exe isnt running for me. installed the xbox driver, unblocked the archive, even tried running the application as administrator, but it wont start. windows just asks me if i should allow it to make changes (which obviously i say yes to) then afterwards, nothing happens. i even restarted my laptop, but it doesnt do the trick. any help?

to add: tried turning off my antivirus and then running ScpDriver.ee again, but it didnt work too

edit: never mind. fixed it. just a redownload was needed. smh

In my honest opinion if getting the PS3 controller to work for windows 10 is such a pain, i'll just go out and buy a used 360 controller for 15$ rather than Screw up my brand new $2,500 Computer lol.

You guys should read the responses STARCRASH crashes and is a pain in the ass to get to work. DS3 bluescreens when the controller becomes disconnected unexpectedly which is usually when your gaming which is worse cuss then you risk damage to the system because it is a driver issue. look here its 5 pages of comments see which are good and which are bad...

If you're using BT and your dongle isn't supported you have to install the zadig drivers. When you do it you first have to load the bluetooth.cfg and then select your dongle from the list and install. I was having trouble with it and realiszed I was missing that .cfg step.

FYI - I had to completely re-install my onboard Bluetooth drivers at some point before trying this again--because it will TOTALLY TAKE THEM OVER!

The key here is that, once you see the MAC address for both "Host Address" and "Pad1" in the ScpMonitor tool, that's it! You're done! Even though the ScpServer is grayed-out and you can't hit the pair button, it doesn't matter. The ScpMonitor shows that it's working. Unplug and enjoy!

PS - Good luck trying to find your Bluetooth in system settings. It's been taken! :-)

PPS - This completely works alongside wireless Xbox360 controllers. After pairing the DS3, I tried an Xbox360, and it came right up as Controller 2.

UPDATE: It would appear, after some time, that you have to uninstall ScpDriver, allow Windows to "re-discover" the Bluetooth device, refresh it in Device Manager and re-install both ScpDriver and Zadig bluetooth.cfg thing. On the upside, it didn't involve a disc this time. ;-)
