Steam Big Picture asks me to pick user - how to disable
A friend I see once a year logged into steam and now it asks me to choose a user for which I want to log into (his or mine) when it starts up. This a HTPC and only one account is used. How do I get it to stop asking me and auto login into mine. This wasn't an issue before he logged in. I can also log into his account without his password.

Remove him rather than selecting him for login. Once there is only a single account associated with your computer, Steam will auto-login as you.

How do I remove the account? I don't believe right-clicking does anything. I'm not currently at the PC to test this.

At the login screen, place the user in focus and select MORE, then select REMOVE USER.

I know this is an old thread, but this no longer works. There is no MORE button anymore. Right click does not work either...

Select the user in Big Picture mode, as if you wanted to log in, but instead of typing in the password, at the bottom select remove user.

Worked fine for me.

But: This only works if you have to enter the password. This either works if you change the PW of the user or you remove the stored credentials. For this you have to login as the user you want to remove, exit Big Picture Mode, Open Steam Settings => Account and set the checkmark at "Don't save account credentials on this computer". At the next login you will then see the PW screen, where you can select "Remove user"

How to permanently disable big picture mode?

The easiest way to get rid of BPM is to opted out of Steam Beta... Follow this link on how to opted out of Steam Beta -
