PS3 controller in big picture?

Is there any way for me to use a PS3 controller in big picture? It's able to detect it but not configure it.

A Sony or third party controller?
If a Sony, install the old PSNow version from the link and it'll install the DS3 driver.

I managed to get it to work, but vibration doesn't.
Any fix?

I have a third party DS3 so don't know how things are with the official device, the Sony driver and Steam. Mine doesn't function with the Sony driver but I was able to define layout and use the controller in Steam.

I then tried out SCP-Toolkit so the device emulated an Xbox 360 controller at OS level. It had vibration support.
I also tried out DsHIDMini, set it to emulate Xinput and got vibration support.
DsHIDMini is newer and has more features but ScpToolkit emulates the Xbox controller in a "better" way. In some games, the way DsHidMini functions, you'd need to go via Steam or something else. But either of the tools will do.
