Site blocked by antivirus.
I tried to connect to the site today and was greated by a big fat warning from my antivirus that basicaly told "this web page can have dangerous content that may allow a remote acces to an infected device, causing data leaks or wrongfull harm to the targeted device."

Do you have any idea why this could happen ? It's the first time in years i see that appearing overnight on a website i frequently use. I've been googling to see if there's info on why my antivirus flag some websites but i can't find anything.

Hey everyone,

The issues are related to the domain registration and will likely be fixed during the next few days.

I also get error but in Firefox and Chrome. Something happened with SSL cert there.

So, barter, did your cert simply expire or did something bad happen?

What sort of error ? I got that warning on Firefox and Edge, i have no other browser installed so i can't check but i don't expect my AV to let other browsers access it.
No explication as to what's the problem, just a big fat red banner and that text i loosely translated to english.

You've let AV too deep in your system, that's why. It's the same error but your AV's just making a scene.

There's something wrong with the SSL cert, looks like it belongs to a different domain and expired in 2017?

Nah. It is not antivirus problem, but SSL certificate problem (server problem)

Here is my firefox log: https://pastebin.com/bD2eJpiV

This is weird, it's not like there isn't a completely different warning for expired ssl certificate with my AV. The sort of warning that you can tell it to ignore and still connect to a website.
Hello everyone, we're already aware of these issues.
Unfortunately the admin is the only one who can investigate / fix this, and since he's not around daily, this might take some time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Looking at whois for both barter.vg and bartervg.com, it looks like the former domain is about to expire November 1st and is put on hold?

But i did and as i was saying, it's the first time it does that for a simple ssl certificate problem, which i find both surprising and concerning :s

A quick domain whois lookup, indicates something suspicious!

Domain: barter.vg Registered On: 2014-11-01 Expires On: 2024-11-01 Updated On: 2024-10-28 Status: pendingDelete serverTransferProhibited redemptionPeriod

As can be seen above, the domain is set to expire in 4 days on the 1st of November. But the registry of the domain was accessed today the 28th of October and updated/edited. The domain status means the following:

pendingDelete
This status code may be mixed with redemptionPeriod or pendingRestore. In such case, depending on the status (i.e. redemptionPeriod or pendingRestore) set in the domain name, the corresponding description presented above applies. If this status is not combined with the redemptionPeriod or pendingRestore status, the pendingDelete status code indicates that your domain has been in redemptionPeriod status for 30 days and you have not restored it within that 30-day period. Your domain will remain in this status for several days, after which time your domain will be purged and dropped from the registry database. Once deletion occurs, the domain is available for re-registration in accordance with the registry's policies.

serverTransferProhibited
This status code prevents your domain from being transferred from your current registrar to another. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal or other disputes, at your request, or when a redemptionPeriod status is in place.

redemptionPeriod
This status code indicates that your registrar has asked the registry to delete your domain. Your domain will be held in this status for 30 days. After five calendar days following the end of the redemptionPeriod, your domain is purged from the registry database and becomes available for registration.

It looks like someone has accessed the domain and asked for it to be deleted :/
MGC Oct 28, 2024 @ 9:01am
Isn't this exactly what you would see if the domain registration period was simply running out?
goview Oct 28, 2024 @ 11:51am
Barter.vg seems not longer a registered domain :(
*****IsDRM Oct 28, 2024 @ 12:40pm
barter.vg uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed.

Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT

Self-Signed Cert = won't work without secure connection
