Isn't a barter when 2 people make there own decision on what they value there items worth at and trade accordingly?
However, the second part is ridiculous.
In the case of deleted games - especially in the case of Steam Gifts, the baseline price no longer applies because they can no longer be purchased - except for on the grey market.
For example, in my inventory I have a steam gift of Spider-man Shattered Dimensions. Its RRP in my original country was $40 US. However, that value no longer applies because there are no copies available for anywhere near that price.
If I was to trade based on that original value of $40, I would lose out massively, most likely to a reseller who would make, at least, several hundred dollars profit on reselling it.
Do you have an example of this? Afaik most people use gg.deals (grey or official prices whichever is lower) as it takes into account bundles and people interest in the game.
Raiden III digitail edition. Sold on Steam many times for $2
Price gougers on grey market asking for $200 (I have seen it cheaper than this but the Bartee rep quoted $200 to a person I wish to trade the game with.
What happens if on the grey market price gougers put the price of a game at $1000 when it has sold for $2
Bartee is going to support price gouging and say "Market price is $1000 you should be asking this'?
Do we want grey market price gouging i.e SHOP FRONT STORES to dictate a BARTER system?
I see Bart-ee saying its 83€, not $200
Where do you get the $2 price? I cant see that game being sold anywhere
Lol. I would lose out. The reseller would make a massive profit. I would not.
It's really that simple.
That's why I do not support resellers, especially ones on a supposedly barter focused site.
If Barte.vg inteferes in barters and cites STORE prices they aren't really a barter site are they?
They are supporting the store and price gouging rather than supporting bartering.
Lol. You've literally just said that I wouldn't lose out if I traded with reseller for that game at the original value and the reseller then went on to make a massive profit.
And I wouldn't care if somebody called out my offer. Why? Because I'm not a crybaby and I'd be able to justify the offer I'd made.
