(Please correct me if I'm wrong with the above. I was reading a discussion back from 2016 that stated it was also dependant on the game, but that could be different now.)
I'm more concerned that they may change their policy again someday without warning (file size limit or max upload) & affect screenshot experience, especially since the site is riddled with 500-504 server errors. So as a safety measure, I occasionally archive screenshots I want to keep on another drive and delete them along with unwanted screenshots from Steam and my primary screenshot folder on PC. Since you take a lot of screenshots, you may want to consider doing that for peace of mind.
you are right about that but that space is also used for your Save game files, artworks and some other stuff because that is the cloud space Steam offers us.
The screenshot cap is 25,175. I still have 12.88 GB of space remaining, so it is not an issue of storage. Trying to upload what would be shot number 25,176 always results in the Uploader's progress meter turning red and a generic error message of "There was an error uploading 1 screenshots. Steam Cloud may be temporarily unavailable."
This has nothing to do with Steam Cloud but a hard cap on screenshots.
I contacted Steam Support about 7 weeks ago according to the ticket. I received a generic reply: "Hi,
Thanks for your comments - we value feedback from the Steam community. I'm forwarding your comments on to the appropriate department.
Additionally, if you wish to share an opinion, suggestion, or idea with the community as well, please visit the Suggestions/Ideas section of the Steam Discussion forums.
This forum is regularly read by Valve's development team.
Best Regards,
Chris"
The founder of one of my Steam groups also contacted Support and was told the cap has been increased to 50,000 which is a complete lie.
There is also no batch deletion system; shots must be manually erased by scrolling down, going into a details page, choosing to delete it, and confirming. This is rather infuriating.
Should I contact Support again, let them know that this is still an issue? When you've been uploading screenshots on a more-or-less daily basis for a decade and your Steam Activity Feed is the only remotely "social" site you care about, screenshots really add up quickly.
