Norton gives a virus warning on htmlagilitypack.dll
I downloaded the latest Win 64 version. As soon as I unzip it, Norton flags and deletes htmlagilitypack.dll with a ws.reputation.1 virus (not sure of the exact name, it 's something like that).

Is this something I need to worry about, please? Or can I have Norton restore the file and continue with the setup. First time user here.

Yes, it's 100% safe. Make sure you submit the file to Norton for review and provide a link to the GitHub.

This ^. Like stated in the FAQ, any false-positive detected in ASF files should be forwarded to devs of your AV, so they can analyze the file and fix their detection engine. There is nothing for us to do.

Of course you can always add ASF to some kind of ignore list, but this is only hiding an issue that should not exist in the first place. Letting AV devs know is the best.

Well if you downloaded ASF from the official github page, you should have nothing to worry about, but wait for a mod/Archi to reply, just to be safe ;)

I'm not sure if it's the exact same kind of false positive (everything was packed inside the .exe file back then), but it's very similar to this recurring situation: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/ascfarm/discussions/1/1353742967823505779/

Yes, I did download it from the official github page, from the link on the wiki.

So, you think I'm safe to restore the file? If nobody else has issues with htmlagilitypack.dll, then it must be a Norton thing. The threat info says the file doesn't have enough information about. Something like that.

Norton definitely is something you should worry about. One of the worst malwares to get rid of once it has sneaked on your PC.

I get Norton for free with my internet service provider. I have no problems with it.

Except the exact problem you just had. All AV are mostly just deleting your wanted files randomly giving you the illusion of working, while real malware sneaks through because obviously they are tested to not be caught with them.

I would much rather have it delete a file that it thinks is unsafe, then do nothing at all. I can easily restore it. No sweat off my balls. I have been happy with Norton, it has stopped plenty of threats, and I have been virus free for 10+ years.

You don't like it. I get that. But, please stop pushing your conspiracy theories on others.

I have been virus free for 30+ years and it has never been the result of some AV. Instead I just use the Common Sense Suite which most experts agree protects you the best. Why is companies wanting to sell their crap no matter if it's useful or not some kind of conspiracy when it's the cornerstone of capitalism?

This is not the proper place to discuss whether using AV makes sense or not, topic is closed.
