1. Understand
In the first step, the affected person must understand what triggers his depression. What happens exactly in the body, in the brain and how do these negative thoughts come about?

The hardest step is to acknowledge that you have problems. We have learned not to take many of our thoughts and needs seriously because they "do not belong". At school, in the circle of friends and in the job you have to work. Whenever one tries to break out of old habits and follow new impulses, one is held back from all sides. While this is not an evil will, it will eventually stop us from trying new things. We stop living openly and honestly as we are teasing the people who are holding us. But that's exactly why a depression can develop in the first place.

The most important answers to be found in this step:

Do I feel like being completely honest?

Do I do things in my life with joy?

Is it easy for me to treat myself lovingly?

2. Overcome long-term depression defeat
Once you understand how your own depression is triggered, you can begin to walk the path. The final road to a life free of depression has not gone from one day to the next. It is a process in which one has to make many new experiences and live consciously.

But you do not have to feel at the mercy of it until then. There are various techniques that always result in a short-term improvement of the mind. Learnable techniques that allow you to manipulate your own feelings and thoughts for a short time without getting in the way of your ultimate healing. Psychotherapy (especially behavioral therapy) and medications can also be a valuable support here.


3. Protect against setbacks
To finally become free of depression, you have to learn to live your life real. Honest and self-determined. Although the methods from the second point can help for a short time, their effect usually ceases fairly quickly. You have to do it again and again at the beginning. In fact, to never become depressed and dependent on medication, psychotherapy or other techniques, you have to learn to take life back into your own hands.

Self-confidence and perseverance (discipline) can be learned! A fulfilling life can not give anyone else. It has to be lived by everyone. On which factors you should work in particular, I like to summarize under Inner strength.
