Needy Streamer Overload
I heard somewhere in this group that depression games are woke, so I guess I may as well post this game here.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1451940/NEEDY_STREAMER_OVERLOAD/
This is a streamer simulation psychological horror game about helping your mentally unstable girlfriend become a famous streamer. The main character, Ame-chan (not to be confused with P-chan, who is the player character), is mentally ill, suffers from depression, is rather cynical, and wants affection to bury her self-hatred.

Here are some other things I decided to take note of:
  • Ame may look Japanese, but this is a non-issue because the game basically takes place in Japan. (also, props to the devs for not making her look too ugly)
  • P-chan's gender is is ambiguous and always referred to by name.
  • Although never mentioned outright, it is suggested that Ame is suffering with Borderline Personality Disorder.
  • Ame transforms (albeit in an anime magical girl-esque way) into her streamer persona, OMGKawaiiAngel (often shortened to KAngel), before she begins streaming. On the surface, KAngel's personality is the opposite of Ame, but her true personality can slip through if Ame is mentally unwell enough.
  • Every single product sponsorship KAngel showcases on stream turns out to be so terrible, that she ends up criticizing them.

  • Ame kills herself on stream in 2 separate endings. In "There Are No Angels", she jumps off a roof after failing to reach half a million followers. While in "Dark Angel", she gets to 1 million followers, normally she would be proud of this, instead her past experiences cause her to take a darker form, berate her own audience, and end the stream by slitting her own throat.
  • (Please don't include this in your review at all because it is a MASSIVE SPOILER) The player character, P-chan, is actually an imaginary friend that Ame came up with to help her cope with her loneliness.

I'd like to see what all of you would think of this.

If you're wondering, the "Internet Overdose" ending is arguably the worst Ame's mental illness can get:

Thanks!

I'll add this game as not recommended.
While I didn't like the game, I've thought about it for a few minutes, and I fail to remember any parts in the game that would suggest pro-DEI messaging. The review says it's "overt" even, which makes it even more incredible that I missed it. Could someone help me by telling me what parts of the game I missed/forgot that would suggest something like thus?
This review is what tells me this group is too purity spiraly for the guy with a moonman avatar.

A game written by mentally unstable people is woke.
A game ABOUT a mentally unstable CHARACTER is not woke.

Is Max Payne woke?? Early Silent Hill games??
If anything, this game is a massive warning for the dangers of delusion, with aesthetics that a woke person would complain about because of male gaze or whatever made-up nonsense.
I've provided an explanation on why the themes of mental illness, depression, and suicide in media are considered to be pro-DEI in the discussion linked below:

Here's my latest post with the most detailed explanation:

As already mentioned, depression is considered a disability by the ADA and the ICD-10. This means games that feature depression as a major theme fall under the umbrella of DEI.

Furin, these are your words. There's more but to me that seemed the central point of your argument. I don't agree with this argument. While I agree that there is a social and thematic correlation between the woke crowd and mental illness, it's not part of the woke ideology just because it's a "minority group" or something.

I can very well be interested in psychological games that explore mind phenomena like depression but have zero appreciation for odd pronouns, gender ambiguity, race fighting and the likes.

On the contrary, minority pandering is a central part of DEI. Pandering to those with some form of disability is also part of DEI.

From Wikipedia:
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are organizational frameworks which seek to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly groups who have historically been underrepresented or subject to discrimination on the basis of identity or disability.

Diversity refers to the presence of variety within the organizational workforce, such as in identity and identity politics. It includes gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, culture, class, religion, or opinion.

Inclusion refers to creating an organizational culture that creates an experience where "all employees feel their voices will be heard", and a sense of belonging and integration

That definition relates to this part of my latest post on this subject:
Specifically, the "Inclusion" of depression and the experiences of those who suffer it is meant to highlight this disability and "elevate/increase awareness" in regard to those voices/experiences. This is indicative of both Diversity and Inclusion.

True enough. But not all forms of psychological phenomena are classified as disabilities by both the ADA and the ICD-10. Depression, however, fits this criteria.

I understand. Yes, I had already noticed a great correlation between games depicting depression, wokeness, and catering almost exclusively to young women, and had already started to avoid them. While there is indeed a difference between characters who just are depressed and those who exist solely to raise awareness about it, the majority of cases consist of the latter (this game is no exception), and I already fully agreed with labeling them as woke. I was merely confused about the subcategory of DEI in particular, which makes sense after reading your explanation.

Also, unrelated to the previous discussion, but I am new to the group and steam community in general, and I am unsure about the steps I need to take to request a game to receive a non-recommended from this group? I am talking about Lisa The Painful, I have only played a little at the start (I stopped due to wokeness), but it was about a world where only one girl is left alive, and it is accepted completely and explicitly that every man in existence is going to do everything in their power to be able to sexually assault her. Which is obvious feminist ideology.
