Space Marine II
Played on my main account, using an alt here so the wokies can't punish me. I think this game needs at least an informational, mainly so people don't get suckered like me into buying it without knowing of the woke agenda's hand in it.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2183900/Warhammer_40000_Space_Marine_2/

-Your squad in this game consists of a black man and an Asian man instead of being all-white like the first. Clear DEI positioning. Two of the multiplayer classes is also black with no option to choose a different ethnicity, only to cover his head with a helmet and pretend he isn't (which doesn't count). There is no explanation for this. The Asian man in the campaign in particular treats the white protagonist with suspicion, though he comes to trust them by the end of the game.
-Main guard commander is female (a position usually occupied by males), but defers to the all-male Astartes. Mixed point since the main Guard character was female in the first game but wasn't a full commander unlike the Major here.
-The Imperial Guard present in the game also has women on the frontlines in combat gear.
-At least one of the developers is on record of having pro-woke opinions.
https://boundingintocomics.com/2021/12/13/warhammer-40000-space-marine-ii-senior-writers-support-for-defunding-police-and-blacklisting-cis-white-men-sparks-concerns-over-games-narrative-creative-director-insists-team-will-honor-lor/
-The Warhammer franchise in general has been noted for going woke with the introduction of female Custodes, previously also an all-male faction.

Some counterpoints that I don't feel overwrite the woke sentiment but are worth mentioning:
-The enemies of the game are either inhuman insect-like monsters or humans who have fallen to worship of a god of change. While change may include a certain change (transgenderism), that mainly falls into the purview of another Chaos God in the lore that is not present; the game therefore avoids killing transgenders/hermaphrodites/what have you but that cannot be considered to make it woke on its own due to them not being present in the game at all.
-The protagonist is a white man, and so are his superiors. The Astartes are general are an all-male faction, but the recent decision to include other races when previous depictions were all-white with no explanation is a red flag.

Any addditonal points or opinions?

EDIT: Okay, so there are external lore factors I was not aware of. Thank you for letting me know.

I say leave it open in case someone finds something more definitive to mark it as woke, since there might have been something I missed.

Just because they're a black and Asian marine, they weren't the deliberately woke. There's the bit of them being primaris marines a new gene of marines within the 40k. neither made any remarks related to woke. scenes of them had been contained to the 40k setting.

For the women it's common to serve in the imperial guard, navy even a faction called battle sisters to the sisters of silence and the assassin guilds. Women have played roles within 40k.

So far this review post is made by a guy who just got introduced to 40k. It's a bad review.
All Space Marines are created by geneseeds from their Primarch (created from the WHITE Emperor's DNA). Asian SMs are literally impossible, only Vulkan's seed can create black SMs. Salamanders aren't African black either, they're caucasians stained black.

Edit: Disregard this, my understanding of geneseeds was incorrect. I thought it changed the race to be the same as the Primarch's.

> " (created from the WHITE Emperor's DNA)"

Since when was the Emperor of Man a white dude. He was born in 8,000 BC Anatolia and has always been depicted as a middle-east guy. Though art depictions of him make him look Native American.

What a joke, this game is not woke, it's a rare game these days, I'm leaving here, it's not helping at all.

racial quotas are part of DEI initiative, just because you like a game does not change that

Source: Trust me bro

Any proofs that it is DEI initiative? Or you just making shit up because it makes you feel better?

Game is not Woke, as a matter of fact it contains many anti-woke situations. Unsubscribing from group and reviews

I'm pretty sure that if the black or asian marines were there because of DEI quotas there'd be one sergeant rank or above and they wouldn't have had both of them cocking things up for the European player character, ya know?

And even if it was, that makes it more woke than Life is Strange?

You seem to think Space Marines are all clones. They are not. Many boys are selected to undergo conversion and it's well known that ultramar is one of the most diverse realms the ultramarines source their initiates. So I can believe that there will be a black and Asian marine in the chapter. I will believe that having one each is a dei thing.

Second the 40k universe is a universe where humanity is besieged on all sides by enemies from extra galactic murder rape bugs, an ancient race of alien terminators who wish to exterminate all life, a sentient race of fungus who want to war all the time, and a collection of evil dieties that want to drag humanity down. The Imperium is not going to care if you are man or woman. If you can pick up a gun and you worship the emperor you are in. If you survive and can lead you get promoted.

You are a damned tourist who doesn't know what the fuck he is talking about

As someone who is actually a fan of 40k and has been since highschool, this is a braindead review.
Lets go over why.

1. The Emperor is not white. He is Middle Eastern as per the lore. His sons are not all white, The Khan for example is clearly Asian. Thus there being marines who aren't white is standard. Complaining that two characters, who have their moments of growth and lore aren't white is stupid. Thats not woke. The Ultramarines draw from many different worlds. While Geneseed will make you have features closer to your Primarch, it won't make a black man white. See the Salamanders, who are black but still have white features.

2. Gadriel treats Titus with suspicion for many reasons, none due to being white. Titus has a muddied past he keeps hidden from his squad, he doesn't tell them much, is regarded coldly by command, has to keep speaking with the Chaplain, was part of the Deathwatch as a black shield, and has a connection to Chaos. All of that is reasonable cause for suspicion.

3. Boo hoo Guard Major is a woman. Considering the Guard is a unisex organization that draws from billions of worlds and trillions of guardsmen, the leader of this regiment being a mixed woman makes sense within the lore. Lt. Mira was a woman too, only that rank but in that position due to battlefield attrition. We see through ,any books, older than this DEI bullshit, that women do have positions of power in the Guard. This is not a position "usually occupied by males," its by who is the best fit, aka merit. The Imperium doesn't give a shit who you are, so long as you fight. Thats one of the main points against the Imperium being a sexist fascist state.

4. It was confirmed by the creators of SM2 that the supposed writer was booted off the team before SM2 was properly in the works. Regardless one woke writer does not a woke game make.

There is so much more you and other commenters have gotten wrong its astounding. If you don't know the lore, don't act like you do. And this is coming from a guy who despises woke shit. All you've done is make both 40k fans and people who stand against woke shit look dumb as fuck.

If they had talked a bout race, gender, sexuality, how maybe the chaos guys are good, or shit like that it would be woke. But a woman and some minorities who fit the lore and theme? No.

My question is how do you differentiate forced racial quotas from demographics that fit the setting? Would it go from okay to forced if the squad added someone from every race? What about if there were dozens of three man squads all with a white, asian, and black dude?

It's still woke. Lore or not lore
Leozaz il Remoto 25. sep. 2024 kl. 15.50
if they gonna change the story for woke, they gonna do it(they already did)
And what story did the change for the woke? New characters? Sidonis is dead and no way Titus would work with Leandros again (at least knowingly).

You can't just scream "woke" at everything. Much like the wokies screaming "nazi," "Racist," and "sexist" at everything, you devalue the word with each misuse.

If I write a world where a particular group takes newcomes from a vast array of planets, which of course means there will be modern day minorities in it, does that make my story woke?

If every squad was a token white, a token black, and a token Asian it would be weird. Not because there is diversity, but because it is so specific and copy pasted, its clear that its only about diversity. it doesn't feel natural. But several squads with a few minorities, yeah that makes sense seeing as the chapter recruits from a wide variety of planets.

No where does Focus Interactive or the writers mention anything about the race of the squad mates. They don't focus on it, don't mention it, nothing. A woke game would not do that, they would make a big deal about it. But FI doesn't do that. Gadriel and Charon are two characters who happen to be minorities. Not two minorities who happen to be characters.

The authors intent matters, as does the lore of the world. If I made a game about the White Scars, a chapter that is predominately Asian, would that be woke? Or the Salamanders who have black skin? Both are underrepresented but fan beloved chapters.

I fucking get it, women in "improbable" leadership roles clearly isn't a thing. WELL HOW ABOUT YOU SAY THAT TO MY AUNT YOU ENTITLED PIECE OF SHIT! She flew C-130s into afganistan and was a commissioned officer. She TOOK FUCKING MORTAR FIRE IN A TRENCH FOR THIS COUNTRY AND TOOK A SELFIE WITH HER CREW DURING. I pray to God you didn't mean to disrespect the service of the many women who have served in uniform and died just so you could say that shit. Because unlike her you've clearly never been shot at and had holes punched in your aircraft! Yes I'm pissed at you for your dumbass review because the level of your ignorance is insulting. I'm getting mad for no good reason but seriously? Women have been able to have combat roles (AND HAVE BEEN GETTING THEM) for years now in the US army. You have no right, no standing to deny that. Hell women have been serving in frontline roles since we invaded Iraq the second time. If you don't believe me please direct yourself to an article about someone who won a damn silver star in 05, https://www.militarytimes.com/off-duty/military-culture/2019/06/14/this-sergeant-became-the-first-woman-in-the-us-army-to-earn-a-silver-star-for-combat-valor. Do whatever the hell you want with that, but beware of facts like this the next time you want to post something so stupid >:(.
