Dat Dolphin Bar...
Ok so I bought it so I could test it.

There are a few, not many, reviews of this device. Here is my take on it.

1) cheap made, and very flimsy. In comparison I am using a heavy wireless adjustable IR sensor from A power that kicks ass and could probably survive being used as a personal defense item at least a few times.

2) The Dolphinbar has four modes and it acts as it's own sync device (no bluetooth necessary) for wiimotes, including the newer versions. This will allow you to easily use 4 wiimotes that are fooled into thinking by the bar that it is syncing for a Wii console. This is good for mode 4 which is the last mode (ironic?) of 4 options and it is only for use in the Dolphin emulator. This is good though, because for this, it does a good job- allowing you to use newer wiimotes to play old wii titles. The downside is that most wii titles are garbage-ware and you will end up playing a bunch of rail shooters or jerking off to Mario/Zelda in HD (WIi or Game cube titles- when really, there are so many new games out).

3) The other modes? Very inconsistent, especially if you do something like repeatedly hit the borders of your view screen using the wiimote control of the mouse cursor- then you start shaking and losing control like you were having a seizure. For mode 1 = plain wiiremote control of the mouse cursor only- it is a very painful experience. IT shakes, even with updated firmware. It also is difficult to control your desktop because of the not so smart mouse settings/default movement used by the sensor bar info. to the wiimote.

4) this deserves its own section: Game mode, or mode 2 setting on the Dolphin Bar. This not only has a fixed set of keys bound/emulated to the wiimote in response to directions from the Dolphinbar, but it is glitchy and does not do anything in FPS games. AT ALL. It is called game mode, but doesn't work in any game unless you want a limited set of keys WITHOUT GESTURE SUPPORT for an RTS (A/B buttons are reversed so B trigger is the RMB...) or a Rail Shooter. However, after testing this in Blue Estate- it glitched out, shook like hell after a few minutes into gameplay and kept glitching the game with a strange lag pause on occassion.

5) Mode 3 seems to be nothing that the awesome Glovepie script made by BigHead didn't already do 1000's times better: allow instant recognition or switch between 4 players with different recognized wii type peripherals: either a wiimote, wiimote + nunchuck, classic controller, balance board, etc.

6) Finally, you cannot use this sync-ing effect to use the wiimote with any other emulator program like wiimoteoncod9 or glovepie. Once it syncs, it is stuck in the world of Dolphinbar with all its limitations.

TL:DR:
USB IR sensor bar that is great for nostalgic wii one gameplay for up to 4 players using the freeware Dolpinh emulator. For any other PC function, it fails hard. Which is good, because God forbid they figure out how to make this cheap piece of plastic do anything worthwhile...

I just bought the dolphin bar to try touchmote on BF3, it's not accurate enough. Then i found out about that software by reading one of your post on youtube video.

Unfortunately, the dolphin won't work with that wiimoteprinciple demo or the wiimoteoncod paid version.

Do you have links to tested sensor bar that would work with that software ?
Is there a way to get this software with Paypal ?

Thanx for any help.

we stopped supporting wiimoteoncod9, but the link to the dev is still good and he will help you. However! Any IR sensor bar works- personally I use a wireless one from Power A. It also has adjustable lights for further distance playing. Check it out :D

Touchmotes work in gyro is great, but it doesn't have that sexy fine aim at center :P

Did you find something better than wiimoteoncod9 ?
Tank Squirrel Oct 2, 2015 @ 7:09pm
kind of :D
but wiimoteoncod9 will run very well for u in bf series. I wouldnt ignore it for your wiimote. esp. if u aernt using motion plus.

Ok ok sounds good, but do you have a roughly estimate of what "soooooooooooooon" and "near future" means ... ? one month, 3 months, more ?

Btw, i sent a mail to Mic, waiting his reply.

That's very nice from you, i'll not hesitate to ask you once i get another sensor bar. But you haven't answered my question as to WHEN do you expect (approx) your "new superior" solution ?

Hi, ok so finally i could try the free principle.exe, it's very similar to the touchmote results, except the cursor mode which seems really good, however it makes video clipping in game. may be there is some video res limit ?

I'm running 1440p144. I'll try with lower resolution see if it's better.
Do you know if the paid version does something better for that ?

the video clipping is one of the reasons I stopped using it. IT wont be any different in the full version. Also, the limitation of the wiimote is the resolution- you can try going down to 1020x780 or such.

Hey one other thing:
- the demo is brink version: which has some lack of smooth center aim control. It is fine for Third person shooters though- but again, you wil not have good fine aim with it if you want to use it in CSGO. Brink refers of course to the game from which this mode was originally designed for. A lot of Unreal games with Mic's program only run with Brink- and actually this was an issue for games like Ziggurat which drove me nuts haha. The control was poor. What I love about what we are doing now is that it is the SAME control in EVERY game we try it on, just need to adjust in game sensitivity settings. Some of course are hyper sensitive but fixable such as FEAR one, WOlf the new order and Tomb Raider.

What wireless sensor bar are you using?
