The end of the Teamvoc Project

Hello Teamvoc,

The development and administrative team of the Teamvoc Project has decided from November 1, 2016 to disband and permanently shut down the Teamvoc Project. Teamvoc has existed for around 2 years now and has been housing over 138.000 players in our database. Teamvoc has been Europe’s #1 Cinema Server since 2014 and still has an active community, which is amazing.

Why did we decide to shut down the project?

Teamvoc has literally lacked development since December 2015, which caused the community to descend slowly. Teamvoc was also a victim of the massive Garry’s Mod DDoS attack, taking place over 3 times within a year. This broke our database and prevented us from updating certain areas on the server. Teamvoc Development team made a lot of mistakes, countering the DDoS attacks; however, we kept the remaining community running with what we had. I also had to travel a lot and got stationed in Japan for a long time due to work and future preparations, so I didn’t get the massive influence on the server, as when I took over the server back in Jan 2015.

Why not gather a new development team and rebuild Teamvoc?

When our first owner (Reason) hosted the Teamvoc server at one of my companies, in December 2015, everything got reworked and patched. Eventually, we had to leave Reason 1 month later, bringing an entire new chapter in the Teamvoc administration and development. We had the money and connections to create unique maps, unique features, and have a high constant player-base. However, 1-2 years later, a lot of connections were lost. Garry’s Mod Player-base has fallen a lot since then, and many of our developers have started on other projects or moved to another chapter of their personal lives. I also have ~5 companies now, which I must control my staff and development, at the same time managing and developing Teamvoc. At one point, it was basically a 2-man project, where I had little time myself, which caused the server to go into an endless bug-hole.

What now??

Uzzy and I have different ideas how we will tackle this problem. Uzzy has started a new community (check it here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/REDUXCINEMAEU, while I have an e-Sports organization in mind. I eventually decided not to call the Multi-Gaming e-Sports organization for Teamvoc, but I am going to resurrect an old name (more info on servon.eu/e-Sports/.
Uzzy has a plan for donators in his community; check it out.

For now, I would like to say thank you for supporting our community – I am sad it did not last longer; however, we must go forwards and not stall a basically dead server anymore.
