Open Steam Client -> Settings -> Account -> Manage Steam Guard Account Security -> Remove Authenticator
I never said I wanted to remove it. I just want to sign out (log out) of the mobile app. You know, like any other app/service allows which this app has a Sign Out button for?
Hotsauce said it weeks ago ....
god
The day after the beta released, nearly 2 months ago.
I was at 96% when it was released and installed that evening. Only used it for about 10 minutes and it was down to 81%. The next morning when I woke up, my phone was at 14%. It wasn't active in the recent app menu list and no other apps or anything happened during that time. But it has improved greatly since.
Made a post about it too in another thread that same day.
Not sure if with good reason. Anyway thanks for the information
I really have no clue about the steam apps, but previously i could log out and now i can't. The app on my phone seems like a big security issue tho as long as this is not fixed. Am i correct that my options are now to risk my steam account or to remove the steamguard feature (which sounds risky on its own)?
And to answer your question, afaik yes, it seems you're correct on your appreciation.
Also didn't imagine updating the app would be such a mistake! I'm absolutely shocked that, now in the new version, one cannot log-out of the app (which is a risk) without first removing the authenticator (which is another risk), or is then forced to remain logged-in 24 /7 (which is also a risk and terrible!).
What were they thinking? Did they actually say anything or even explained this change?
I would have appreciated a warning in the Update Notes but there was nothing! They should've said "if you update the app now you'll be obliged to have the app open 24/7 or Steam Guard will not work!" It's unbeliavable!
In previous versions of the app one could sign out, and it was possible to see the codes on "Enter username/password" screen (without logging in, i.e. without being forced to have the account open all the time), and they were normally displayed right below "Enter password" field, and refreshed every few seconds. I really don't understand this change in Steam Guard and the app. I just don't get it. Why did they do this?
