Integrate Steam Chat into this App

The headline says it all. I’m very confused why this new app doesn’t include the Steam Chat or even a simple button to see your friends list… I feel like that’s a very integral part of steam and I’m baffled that it requires a separate app.

You could simply replace the “news” icon in the bottom row with friends, because have never and will never use this page. Steam news is completely irrelevant to me.

Other than that it seems like a nice upgrade

There was going to be a 3rd app, the Video app for movies and shows but that was scrapped when they stopped selling videos not pertaining to games.

So, there is that...?

The whole draw of steam opposed to Origin/EGS/Uplay/etc. is the linkage of vast community features and support with our games.

Lets just split that on the phone for no reason. Nice

I think I too would prefer to have chat there in the same app with everything else, but this does have its benefits as well: With multiple apps, you can control the apps in a more fine-grained manner, because you can e.g. grant some permissions to the main Steam app but not to the Steam Chat app, and vice versa, and the same goes for battery saving settings as well. There's a bit more to it, but that's something. Again, I don't necessarily think having chat in a separate app is a good choice, but it does have its benefits as well.

+1 on this. Keep the standalone apps if you think that's useful, but give us the option to integrate them all in just one app. Would be really nice.

Chat should definetly be integrated. Even if its a simplier version like its in the current stable release.

This can't be stressed enough. Having two separate apps is a very weird choice. Besides, Valve has far more resources than Discord and yet the Steam Chat app is, to put it generously, sub-par.

It should be integrated into one app. I agree with one of the points above - Just replace the news button with a friends button, it will see far, far more use.

Totally agree. Now it's the time to merge the two apps in one. Is really obnoxious having a separate steam app for chats only.

Yeah. That was my thoughts too, even before you mentioned it.

If it's supposed to be about security then it shouldn't have community features.
If it's not supposed to be about security, then it should all be in 1 app, imo.

As someone with multiple phones, this isn't a huge inconvenience but it still doesn't make sense to me either.

and all the community stuff in the chat app ( community app )
