Audio not being recorded with Windows spacial audio enabled.(Dolby Atmos for Headphones)
This has been an annoyance for me for a long while, be it with Steam Broadcast or Discord game share. In some games(not all) recording software fails to capture any audio channels.

An example of this is Destiny 2.

I would assume that its related to how the game presents itself as stereo at start up, to then change channel layout, but i don't honestly know exactly what it looks like to the application itself before/after overlay hook.

Would it be possible for the Steam client to account for extensions such as Dolby Atmos for headphones?

OS: Win 11 x64 Professional
GPU: RTX 3080 with driver 556.12
Audio Endpoint: Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless via Microsoft USBAUDIO.sys (v10.09.22621.3672)

Dolby Access v 3.23.1378

As of now this is still an issue. No audio when recording if using dolby atmos.
Still not working. You will have to set audio to either 16 or 24 bit for 5.1 surround. I have an avr so can use auro 3D instead of atmos. When I do this the recording will capture 5.1 sound. The nvidia recorder won’t capture Dolby atmos either. It’s probably a licensing issue, or could be because Dolby atmos cannot be compressed the same way pcm can.
I'm not sure it's Atmos. I disabled it and still don't get game audio unless I set it to record all system sounds. https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/discussions/5/612032374411140976/

I'm fairly certain its due to Atmos changing output format after the fact. Some games will have a couple of the channels recorded, but not sound right.
I get nothing from multiple games and then others will work fine. I would think disabling Atmos would allow for sound to be recorded properly, no?

Any of those games common? I could try testing on my own.

I've never done any Windows audio programming on my own,so i am not sure how Atmos actually switches output format. But looking at logs its pretty obvious it reports as regular stereo at launch.

GTA 5: Enhanced (might also happen in legacy)
Split Fiction
A Way Out

GTA 5 Enchanced(not vanilla) has native Atmos support on PC.(it outputs audio as audio objects for Atmos to render in 3D space, allowing for custom speaker positions), so that makes sense. I dont own the other two, so i cant test.

Problem is it still occurs with Atmos disabled

Edit: Corsair iCue was re-enabling Atmos I think. My mistake.

I also found that game recording works with Halo Infinite and this supports Dolby Atmos I believe?
