Unable to retrieve clip information; can't create clips, can't export

I created a recording manually using f11, then in the steam overlay I tried to save it to device which gave "Unable to retrieve clip information". I tried to copy it, a progress bar appeared for a few seconds and then the steam overlay as well as the steam client crashed (but the game kept running). I closed the game and opened Steam again, and can see the game recording under View→Recordings & Screenshots, but I still can't export it.

I haven't tried copying it again. Any help/tips on how I can save this recording to device is appreciated. If you need more info just ask.
