Steam Recording Failed

I don't know if this is a universal problem, but almost all of my recordings fail.
In Counter-Strike 2 it maybe records the start of one game. But after that it stops recording.
My recording timeline is like 90% grey because the recording failed.
Is there something I'm doing? Does it fail if I alt-tab. What is the problem?
Cause I would love to use this feature, but at this point, I can't rely on it.

Can you provide some info about your setup? Are you using the latest version of the client?

- Version of steam: The "Steam Version" number from the "Help / About Steam" menu item
- Platform (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Steam Deck)
- Model of your computer's graphics card
- Your graphics driver version

Hi, I looked through the game recording logs we have for the failed recordings and it looks like Steam is having intermittent issues modifying files in the game recording directory. This may be due to an Antivirus program that is accessing those files at the same time as Steam.

Could you let us know which (if any) Antivirus software you have running and try excluding your selected game recording directory from real-time scanning?

I have no anti-virus software installed, besides the default Windows Anti-Malware Service Executable. Could it be a Windows permissions issue?

The Windows Anti-Malware Service Executable performs real-time scanning of files in the background and can intermittently be accessing a file that Steam is trying to modify.

Hey there. I have the same problem. Recording starts but stops after 1-2 mins or so.
I did added Steam Game Folders to exclussions in Windows Defender but I still have this problem.

Any other tips?
