Sudden lag/stuttering with recordings

this happens for me in specific games, in the beta the entire steam overlay struggles to run when recording is enabled (it has a 1-3 second delay and <5fps) while the game runs fine

what games it seems to affect are irrelevant and inconsistent. games that work fine one day will be unwatchably laggy/stuttery the next

Same thing here. The editor is totally unusable to export any clips while it's recording it just lags to hell and back.

i figured out it was games that utilize cpu properly, steam overlay doesnt want to reduce game performance so it just eats it. all you can really do is cap your framerate or play at lower qualities.

Having the exact same issue with certain games but even if the games impacted are not even running.
