Mic recording is just... not good
No matter what settings I change in the Voice settings, the mic recording in my clips are muddy and clipped. I do not have this problem with Shadowplay or OBS. Having more customizable mic control is crucial.

+1 I am also finding that the mic recording quality is really poor.

for me is like even when i deactivate audio filters, steam record my mic with filters, and it sounds really bad too

same for me actually, even steam's Microphone Test in settings works perfect but not the record

Yeah the test sounded great, I was really surprised by the muddiness and spottiness of the mic recording in the clips

It looks like they didnt fix the mic issues and they just released it.

Never mind you just need to turn of "Automatic Gain Control" option. Its in "Game Recording" and it is in "AUDIO RECORDING" on the bottom.

I tired playing with all the settings, and tried turning off everything in the 'Voice' tab as well as the auto gain control in game recording. Still jittering audio :(

+1 No matter which setting I use my microphone audio is still crackling

+1 just a simple input gain slider or something would be awesome, or better yet make it use the output of whatever the mic test gives you

Right?? I don't understand why the mic test sound works but not the game recording? Surely its the same thing

Yeah it's still terrible unfortunately.. barely even picks discord audio too
HoboGod Dec 4, 2024 @ 7:57pm
I've been using it for clips and it picks up my friends on discord really well along with anything else in the background but my mic recording with steam clips is just so awfully poor which is a bummer

I can confirm that turning every knob and whistle in steam's voice settings does not fix the microphone cutting in and out. Only have this mic issue on steam.
