Suggestion: Hotkey to "Clip" the last X amount of background recorded video automatically.

A great option would be, for those using the "always on" recording, it would be nice to have a hotkey and duration setting for the user to be able to bind that will simply save a video clip of the last specified amount of recorded video, similar to how the Nintendo Switch's share button works.

The current system, making markers and whatnot, does work, but it necessitates the user interacting to actually create the video, which they may not want to interrupt gameplay to do, and if their recording-length is shorter than 120 minutes or the user is playing a long session, by the time they think to do it, it may already be gone.

This kind of Instant Clipping I would posit as the single most important missing feature from this, from my testing.

when i heard about the feature i thought it was gonna be just like that, but currently its kinda... weird, and hard to use. its hard to get very small seconds of recording because you're fighting with the timeline.
i wish both was a option, honestly.

+1, I'm really glad this feature exists but it's a little weird that they designed a complicated clip editor before they made a simple "Save last X Minutes of Footage" bind.

+1 I do this with the Nvidia instant replay current which I have set to a hot key for my PS4 controller share button with all my games. Would love for this to be built into steam.

Ya, about that, I went to check the clips folder for where the clips are saved, at least on Steam Deck, and they're not even actual mp4s. Even if it saves a clip, you NEED to export it to get an mp4 of it, whereas Decky Recorder just saved it as a video. On top of that, it needs to be sent to your PC and then exported, cause unless I'm missing something, I can't really do that on the Deck, and sending it to phone via the app or QR code doesn't work in trying to save the clip as a video file.

This, for me is by far the most useful feature of Shadowplay. Don't really feel comfortable to "double tap" the marker button if I choose to record a longer amount of gameplay or setting recording timer without a "buffer" so the starting point doesn't get erased when the max timer is reached.

So, is this not how it currently works? I'm just so confused with how this whole system works. I guess maybe I'm just used to how other programs work. But yes, if this isn't how it currently works, then absolutely I agree.
