Suggestion: Hotkey to "Clip" the last X amount of background recorded video automatically.

A great option would be, for those using the "always on" recording, it would be nice to have a hotkey and duration setting for the user to be able to bind that will simply save a video clip of the last specified amount of recorded video, similar to how the Nintendo Switch's share button works.

The current system, making markers and whatnot, does work, but it necessitates the user interacting to actually create the video, which they may not want to interrupt gameplay to do, and if their recording-length is shorter than 120 minutes or the user is playing a long session, by the time they think to do it, it may already be gone.

This kind of Instant Clipping I would posit as the single most important missing feature from this, from my testing.

Putting in my +1 for this. I use the Windows built-in option to automatically save the last 60 seconds of gameplay to a video clip. Would love to see this in the Steam offering for use on Deck/Linux, so I don't have to manually go back and make the clips from the markers.

100% agree - I'm very excited to have this feature built into Steam proper, but without an instant-replay feature that can clip a few seconds from a buffer instead of a constant recording writing to a disk, I don't think I'm going to get much use out of this. There's already a replay option in the steam overlay, so I'm hoping that's not a huge ask...

This suggestion from XPaw would work excellently alongside this for users who want to have the option of clipping only a limited amount of video and do not want to store the buffer on disk, but rather, to memory.

I don't know how they overlooked this. If you are in a match it is time consuming to open the overlay to move sliders and do clipping. Add hotkey to clip last x amount of time.

Big +1, I was coming here for exactly this. As much as I enjoy having background recording so that I can grab clips of great moments I forgot to clip myself, I would also like to know that I have a 2-3 minute clip saved by pressing a single button and don't have to go clip it before it gets deleted.

This makes a lot of sense on Steam Deck and for ease of access to the feature for Controller users in general I should add.
