Steam Overlay and browser Frozen

As title suggests, my overlay has frozen since the new Steam UI was introduced.

I can not interact with or use it in any way, but it only seems to affect the overlay when I start MW3. There are several tabs open in the browser which appear to be eating up large amounts of memory and my only work around is to disable it completely.

Would anyone have a potential fix or any suggestions would be welcome?

unless a tab is repeatedly needed, be sure to close it out. the new UI remembers all open tabs per game and it will chew your ram and cause issues like this.

you could try deleting the web browser cache (settings>in game>delete web browser data) and see if that clears it.

That was my first thought too, but unfortunately it hasn't made any difference.
I can open the overlay in other games and interact with it, but when I return to MW3, the issue remains and I am forced to disable it to conserve memory.

Sadly not, I am unable to interact with any of the overlay buttons etc. It has been referred to Steam support who have been incredibly unhelpful, telling me they do not have a fix at this time

try this, right click the game giving you trouble goto Properties>General> Delete In-Game Overlay Data and restart the game this should clear whatever browser tabs
