Friends list in startup location

Please add again Friends list in the startup location at interface for the love of GOD

A workaround I found.
First, stop steam from starting on boot (either in steam settings, or in windows).
Then make a .bat file in your startup folder ('windows key + R' -> 'shell:startup' will open the folder for you)
The .bat file (name it w/e you want):

start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -silent

echo Waiting a bit for steam to start, before starting steam friends list (otherwise will also open store)
timeout 3
start "" "steam://open/friends"

This starts steam in silent mode (so no other windows are popped-up) and then it opens the friends list :)

A simple shortcut to "steam://open/friends" should do the trick as well after Steam is already running, you just have to remember to always open Steam from that shortcut and not the tray icon or anything else.

1 Year later and nothing happened. Still unable to select friends list. valve donkeys won't do ♥♥♥♥ as long as people keep inserting their money in valve's greedy asses.

Its not perfect, but this works with also getting it on your taskbar, as that was a must for me, and web shortcuts can't be put on taskbar anymore.
Copy Steam's shortcut, and edit the Target to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" steam://open/friends

This should make it possible to open friends directly from the taskbar, but keep in mind that this does not make it possible to utilise steams right click features for starting games, but at least it lets you open the steam friends, even if steam is not open.
