Weird notification bug

When I start a game, old notifications will pop up. It'll show friends playing a game that they were playing hours ago and no longer playing, or a download notification from hours before. It's some weird sort of delay. I went back to non beta client and issue is gone.

I have the same bug since a couple of days, looks like notifications only shows in the steam in game interface.

It seems like this is a rare bug; some people get it, but others don’t. There is one temporary solution that can help is disabling Steam Overlay

Been having this issue for over a month now, would start with notifications about friends coming online or playing games, that are no longer online or playing the game and playing something else..then that stopped showing up when inwas in game…chat worked for a while but has suffered the same fate when in game and as soon as i tab out or quit the game…i get flooded with notifications from the last few hours, and they keep popping up for the next few mins till it finally catches up…..one friend thought i hated them and was purposely ignoring them when i didnt see their IM untill an hour later when i quit the game :(
