H.265 (HEVC) Playback broken
Expected Behavior:
Steam records clips in H.265 format. Steam plays back clips in H.265 format when you try to view them.

Current Behavior:
Clips recorded in H.265 format do not appear to be playing back in the Screenshots/Clips UI.

Steam Client Beta Build:
Steam Beta Branch: Steam Beta Update
Steam Version: 1728009005
Steam Client Build Date: Thu, Oct 3 11:18 PM UTC -08:00
Steam Web Build Date: Thu, Oct 3 10:16 PM UTC -08:00
Steam API Version: SteamClient021

System Specs
WIndows 11 Pro
Intel Core i7-6700K
16GB DDR4-2666 RAM
6GB NVIDIA GTX1660Ti

Special Note
This is a software issue involving the Steam UI's video player not supporting HEVC (H.265).

Hi, I checked logs from your Steam client and it appears you may have the hardware video decode setting disabled.

H.265 video playback in the Steam client currently requires the "Interface -> Enable GPU accelerated rendering in webviews" and "Interface -> Enable hardware video decoding" settings to be enabled. We are working to add better handling of this case and reporting of the underlying cause of video playback failing.

Please let me know if these videos continue to not play back successfully with these settings enabled.

Does the 1660Ti have hardware H.265 support?

I can't play back the HEVC game recording, I looked at the options you mentioned, they are all open, I turned them off and on, then restarted steam, now can play back normally.

Another problem is that I set the frame rate to 60, but the exported video file only has a frame rate of about 40. This problem exists in both H264 and H265 formats.

That and they took away the toast options for game recording…sometimes a toast notification from Overlay can affect it.
