Force usage of hardware encoder / specific codec for Remote Play?

I'm curious to try the newly added AV1 Remote Play streaming support (on linux). I've enabled hardware encoding in the Host settings on my desktop machine but remote streams only ever seem to show up as being encoded via libx264. Is there a way to force the use of AV1, or even just hardware encoding from steam?

Yes, I also encountered the same problem. I turned on the AV1 encoding in remote play, but still used H264 encoding (steam link app on android).

Yeah it looks like the auto detection does not work. I have AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE which supports hardware AV1 encoding (using it all the time with OBS) and Steam Deck should also support it in HW and yet the AV1 toggle is completely disabled and can0t even switch it on
